It is with very heavy hearts we announce the passing of Anitta Simpson, a beloved Mother, Nana, daughter, sister, friend and neighbor. Surrounded by her loving daughters, Anitta left this world on June 24, 2025 after suffering a short but courageous battle with Breast Cancer.
Anitta was born on December 27, 1961 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Edward Maurice Blotter and Leona Popp Blotter. Born the second child and the baby of the family, Anitta was the quiet, meek and mild of her family. Growing up Anitta enjoyed gardening and yard work with her Father and learning to cook, sew and crochet with her Mother.
On September 11, 1981 Anitta married the love of her life and best friend James Timothy Simpson. They later divorced but remained each other’s best friend, soulmate, and each other’s forever love until the very end when Jim passed away last year. Together they had two beautiful daughters, Raquel and Ariel. Anitta loved both her daughters and was always there for them no matter what it was. Anitta’s biggest accomplishment was the day she became Nana to her 3 grandchildren Paxton, Paislee and Marley. They were her entire world and meant everything to her. Anitta would move heaven and earth if it meant to see her children and grandchildren smile and enjoy life.
Anitta worked for Zions Bank for the lifetime of her career. She worked in the corporate office in the area of Stocks and Bonds. There she met many people and made lifelong friends. Anitta retired from Zions in March of 2025 after 45 years with the bank.
Anitta enjoyed the simple and relaxing things in life like being in her yard and garden, crocheting baby blankets for the NICU and spending time with her family. Anitta was quite the cook and enjoyed making large Sunday meals to eat and enjoy with her parents and family. Her other passions in life were her horses and dogs. Anitta loved animals with all her heart. She was so excited when they built their home in West Bountiful and she was finally able to get her “redheaded” baby – a beautiful horse named Rusty. Later came many other horses and of course all the puppies she loved so deeply. She could never say no when Raquel would show up at home with another dog because she was immediately in love with them. Anitta had a heart of gold and would do anything for anyone especially those she loved.
Anitta loved all her family, friends and animals dearly. She will be missed by all those that met and knew her.Anitta is survived by her beloved daughters Raquel and Ariel and grandchildren Paxton, Paislee and Marley, sister Eliisa (Ron) Grandstaff, and many nieces and nephews. Anitta is preceded in death by her beloved ex-husband James, her parents Maurice and Leona Blotter and nephews Joshua Simpson and TJ Simpson.
A very special thank you to her nurse Jen with Quality Hospice for her amazing care, friendship and comfort she provided to Anitta and her family.
