Brent Russon

FUNERAL DIRECTOR
Brent Russon
FUNERAL DIRECTOR

Brent has been a part of the funeral service for over 50 years. Born in Salt Lake City to Milton W. and Karlyn Chatfield Russon, he grew up in the Bountiful area attending local schools and being involved in the community. His father and two brothers started the Russon Brothers Mortuaries. Brent followed his father and uncles into the business and became part of the second generation of Russons in Russon Brothers Mortuaries.

Besides the funeral trade, Brent lent his services to the Utah Funeral Directors Association by serving for many years on the UFDA Board of Directors, as well as the president of UFDA from 1986-87. Brent was also appointed to the Utah State Funeral Services Licensing Board. For several years he participated in the South Davis Chamber of Commerce. Civically minded, Brent was instrumental in developing and chairing the Bountiful City Community Council, as well as Viewmont High School’s community council. Brent is firstly dedicated to God and Family. He met and married a fellow Viewmont Viking; Dianne Gibb, and has 5 children; Lonnie, Lori, Chad, Todd, and Kellee. Son Chad and Todd make up part of the third generation of Russon mortuary, He and Dianne have 23 grandchildren and 9 Great Grandchildren. Brent served a mission in Southern Australia, and has served as a bishop and a member of a stake presidency for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

“The honor of serving someone in a time of need is very humbling and sacred. I appreciate the confidence this community places in our family in caring for their loss. Often, I am asked why on earth would I choose this profession. The answer is simply the feeling of service and of a gratitude hearth in providing tender care at a tender time.”

Scott Russon

FUNERAL DIRECTOR
Scott Russon
FUNERAL DIRECTOR

Scott has been a licensed funeral director since 1978. During that time, he was privileged to work very closely with his Dad, Milton W Russon and his brother, Brent Russon in serving families in Davis and Salt Lakes Counties. It was during these decades of service that Scott was blessed to learn from them, along with other loved and respected family members and colleagues about the operations and culture associated with the loving care of families wading through the pain of grief and sorrow.

Scott is married to his best friend and high school sweetheart, Sherry. Together they raised 5 children who are all married to amazing spouses and have brought 20+ grandchildren into their tribe. In addition to licensure in the State of Utah, Scott was licensed in Idaho from 1982 – 2012 and as a Life Insurance producer and General Agent for Russon Brothers Mortuary 1985 – 2020. Scott was appointed by the Governor to serve on the State Funeral Services Licensing Board and received the appointment to serve on the SIDS Advisory Council for the State of Utah. He served as a member of the Program Advisory Committee for Salt Lake Community Health Sciences College, in preparation for accreditation by the National Funeral Service Board for Utah’s first College of Mortuary Science.

Scott was active in the Boy Scouts of America serving as Scoutmaster, District Round Table Commissioner and a member of the Great Salt Lake Council Executive Board. Scott was a member of

the Centerville-Farmington Rotary Club for over 30 years, serving as President in 1994; also served as District Convention Chair under his mentor and friend, District Governor, Andy Anderson.

Scott and his wife share a beautiful passion for music. At the inspired invitation of his sweet wife, he auditioned for, and was invited to be a member of the Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square for 7 years. During this time, he was blessed to maintain above 92% attendance at all events — with many thanks to his partners and coworkers who willingly took on extra work responsibilities so he could participate. His wife, Sherry, was the Choir’s biggest fan during these years!

Scott loves traveling with Sherry, waterskiing, and spending time on any lake with his family, or on a pontoon boat with a fly rod in his hand and tight lines!

For 50 years it has been Scott’s tremendous blessing to serve the communities of Davis and Salt Lake Counties. It is a great honor and privilege to be called upon, in that seminal event of grief, where we have the blessing of applying generations of training and compassion to serve families who place their trust in us.

OWNER/FUNERAL DIRECTOR FARMINGTON

Matt is the son of Scott and Sherry (Gibb) Russon. Growing up around the family business and seeing

what his Dad did to help families gave him a sincere desire to follow in his footsteps. He grew up in

Centerville and attended Viewmont High School. After high school, Matt served a two-year, full-time

Mortuary Science program he would join in Houston, Texas. Those studies along with his internship with

Russon Mortuary gave him the opportunity to become licensed and to do what he loves to do: serve

families during the difficult time of the loss of a loved one and help them grieve and memorialize in the

way that will help them the most. Matt married his sweetheart, Stacy Petersen also of Centerville, and

they have seven beautiful children together. They have a home in West Farmington, and they love Davis
