William Clair Ellis

May 6, 1954 — January 16, 2021

William Clair Ellis, known as Bill for most of his life and by the name Dude by those he cared about the most, passed peacefully away on the afternoon of January 16th surrounded by his family.

Throughout his life he had many titles. He started as a son to William Merrill and Audrey Ruth Duncombe Ellis and as a brother to Cheryl Lynn Mathias all of whom he has now joined on the other side of the veil. He was a cousin and a nephew to many. He added the titles of friend, guitarist, thespian and bass  vocalist throughout his years in school. Missionary was an important title for 2 years on the island of Japan.

He became a husband when he married ReNae Johnson in 1977 and  a father in 1978 to W. Cory, 1980 to Jamie (Derbidge), 1982 to Chrystal A. (Behunin) and Daniel Johnathan in 1985. He was a college graduate and a computer programmer for close to 30 years. Everyone who met him knew he was a Utah Man sir, a Yankee fan and a sports fanatic. He was a father-in-law to 2 sons (Jeremy Derbidge and Jacob Behunin) and 2 daughters (Heather Bodily and Randie Olsen) as well as a temple worker and a Sunday school teacher.

He spent time with the title of patient to a very special group of doctors and nurses. He said thank you and we say it again to Stephen, Wayne, Nancy, MaryLynn, Heather, Chrystal and Julie.

His favorite title was Dude followed closely by Disney World enthusiast turned tour guide to his 12 grandchildren Kason, Shannah, Aubrey, W. Connor, Brock, Andy, Jaxson, Austin, Camren, Isabell, Jaidan and Jace.

He will be missed by his family, but because of his title as a child of God there is hope and peace for those left behind that we can all be together again.
