Wilda Hardy Hess

August 2, 1940 — January 19, 2022

Wilda Hardy Holcomb Schryver Madsen Hess, age 81, passed away peacefully on January 19, 2022.  Although she was known by several different names, she was definitely ONE very amazing woman!

She was born Aug. 2, 1940 in Salt Lake City, Utah to William and Zada (Waite) Hardy.  She was raised in Farmington, Utah where she spent most of her life.  Her mother passed away when she was only 6 years old and she was raised by her loving father after that.  She graduated from Davis High School in 1958 where she excelled in journalism and led the year book staff.  She married Fredrick Holcomb in 1958, later divorced.  She married Darrold Schryver in 1963, and although later divorced, remained close friends.  She married Mark Madsen in 1982, and was sealed a year later in the Ogden Temple, later widowed. She married Lowell Hess in 2002 and was married for 11 years until his passing in 2013.  She spent most of her working years in support of local, state, and federal governments, many years of which were working for the Utah Retirement Systems as the Assistant to the Director. After retirement, she worked as an office manager for Frodsham’s Lawn Service in Farmington, Utah.

Wilda is known by so many as a music prodigy as she spent her entire life entertaining and providing service with her musical talent.  All who heard her play the piano were amazed as she was gifted to play by ear, but also could sight read and play the most difficult of songs.  She spent a good portion of her life teaching piano students and sharing her talents with others in the church and community.  She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she served in various callings, but her favorite was Young Women’s President where she served twice.

Wilda is survived by her four children, William Schryver (Belinda) of Cedar City, Utah, Scott Schryver (April) of Kaysville, Utah, Lisa Howard (Ty) of South Weber, Utah, and Darron Schryver (Carolina) of Clinton, Utah, stepchildren Lynn, Ann, Helen, Leah, Curt, Glenn, Bill, 27 grandchildren as well as numerous great grandchildren.  Her children and grandchildren were the light of her life.  She is preceded in death by her many husbands, her son, Todd Schryver, and grandson, Lucas Schryver.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, Jan. 24th at 11:00 AM at the Kaysville 7th Ward Chapel, 331 South 50 West, Kaysville, UT, with a viewing from 9:45 to 10:45, as well as a viewing Sunday night from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 1941 N. Main St., Farmington, Utah.
