Wallace (Wally) Frank Wood

July 21, 1942 — May 19, 2022

Wally passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family.  He was born to Reed William Wood and Phyllis Wright Wood in Delta, Utah. He was proud to be born and raised in Delta and graduated from Delta High School.

He was called to serve a mission in the Northern Indian Mission in South Dakota for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. While there, Wally served on the Sioux Indian Reservation.

Wally graduated from Utah Technical College in 1967 with an Associate degree in Marketing.

Wally was sealed to the love of his life Iris Bjerregaard on June 27, 1969, in the Salt Lake City Temple by LeGrand Richards. Together they raised four children, Sherrilee, Kimberly, Megan, and Tyler. Sunday dinners surrounded by his kids and grandkids were the highlight of his week. He taught all his grandkids how to play cards at an early age and would never pass up an opportunity to play with them. His grandkids will forever cherish their memories of playing card games with grandpa.

Wally worked for Garrett, Yellow, and ANR trucking companies as a dock worker for 30 years and loved to tell stories from his time there.

Wally was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served in many callings. Some of his favorites included Scout Leader and blood drive coordinator.

Wally loved people! He was very outgoing and made friends quickly. Even though he suffered from chronic health problems, it did not stop him from being very positive and upbeat. Everyone who knew him knew how Christlike and humble he was.

We love you and will miss you!

He was preceded in death by his parents, Reed and Phyllis; sister Margaret (Harley), brother Earl (Susan), and grandson Jacob. He is survived by his wife Iris, daughters Sherrilee (Scott), Kimberly (Todd), Megan (Andy), and son Tyler (Lisa). Grandchildren Travis, Taylor, Andrew (Elisabeth), Olivia, Thomas (Jessica), Gavin, Tayden, Abby, and Takoda. He is also survived by his brothers Spencer, Ray (Marlene), and Max (Marilee).

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 25, 2022, at the Ricks Creek Chapel, 1461 N. Main Street, Centerville. The family will greet friends that morning from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. Interment will be in the Centerville Cemetery.
