Virginia Anderson Johnson

July 27, 1941 — May 6, 2022

Virginia Anderson Johnson passed away peacefully at home in the early hours of May 6, 2022, after a long and hard-fought battle with dementia.  After a short separation of only five months, we are certain she had a joyous reunion with Earl who was waiting to greet her with a joke.

She is survived by daughters Phaedra, Kristine, and Marilyn, son-in-law Trent, granddaughter Tashena, and grandson Sean.  She was preceded in death by her husband Earl, her parents George and Afton, and her brother Mark.

Virginia was a kind and gentle soul who blessed the lives of everyone with whom she came in contact.  She was always generous with her time and willing to help anyone in need.  She was a great neighbor, friend, and teacher of thousands of elementary school children who loved her.  It was not unusual for her to receive hugs from her former students whenever she encountered them.

Virginia was a devoted mother and a doting grandmother who loved watching her grandchildren play sports.  She was quiet and unassuming, but she was an example of strength to her family. She faced her many heath challenges with courage and determination and she never complained.

Virginia loved to read and almost always had a book in her hand.  Even when she lost the ability to read she would still look at the pictures and show them to everyone in the room as she must have done while reading to her students.  She loved going to movies, concerts, and musical theatre.  In the last years of her life, she loved watching movie musicals (she watched The Sound of Music almost every day) because she could still remember the words to all of the songs.

There will be a visitation for family and friends on Friday, May 13, 2022, from 6-8 p.m. at Russon Mortuary, 295 North Main, Bountiful, Utah.

Her family wishes to thank Inspiration Home Health & Hospice for taking such great care of Virginia during the final months of her life.
