Tracy Lynn Gunnell Halterman

June 23, 1974 — October 7, 2021

Tracy Lynn Gunnell Halterman, 47, beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend passed away on Thursday, October 7, 2021 at the Intermountain Medical Center in Murray Utah. She courageously fought multiple health issues and the pain they caused for over 18 years.

Tracy was born June 23, 1974, the second daughter born to Mark Steven and Carol Lee Smith Gunnell, in Logan, Utah. She grew up in Providence, Utah, graduating from Mountain Crest High School where she loved participating in Magic To Do, a performing group. Tracy loved children and had the opportunity to be a nanny in Park City with a family that became like her second family. She loved singing and playing the piano and was able to share her talents by teaching others to play. Playing the piano brought her much peace and joy. Tracy was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and all of the callings she held involved playing the piano! She met and married Patrick Keller and they were blessed with three beautiful children. She loved being a mom and having children of her own.

Later she met and married Franklin Daniel Halterman, the love of her life. Together they created a wonderful home to raise their children with much love and joy. Dan served in the Navy so they had many opportunities to travel. They lived in Guantánamo Bay Cuba, Yokosuka Japan, Charleston South Carolina, Whidbey Island Washington, and Pearl Harbor Hawaii. During this time, Dan also served two tours of duty in Afghanistan and a third tour in the Persian Gulf. There were new adventures to be had in each location and new friends to meet. Close relationships were formed with their military family. Tracy cherished the support and friendship from the Navy wives, especially when Dan was deployed. She in turn was selfless and caring as she supported her friends in person and online. They retired from the Navy in June 2019 and we’re excited to start a new life in Utah. They bought a beautiful home in Clinton, Utah where they could enjoy living closer to family. She became a favorite aunt with all the little children at family gatherings as she always had a surprise for them. Tracy loved her puppies Kyla and Finn, sunsets, fall colors, dried apricots, sour candies, and salsa from El Sol. But most of all Tracy loved Dan, her children, and family! We love you Tracy and look forward to the day when we can be with you again.

Tracy is survived by her loving husband, Dan, and their children, Joshua Keller, Alyssa Keller (Carolyn), Andrea Keller (Brandon), and Tom Halterman (Ricki). Her parents, Mark and Carol Gunnell and siblings, Shelly Gunnell (Colleen), Scott Gunnell (Desiree), Jeffrey Gunnell (Shauna), Emily Campbell (Ryan), Ryan Gunnell (Julia), Kelli McGrath (Mark), and Jared Gunnell.

Tracy was preceded in death by a daughter, Kelsey Halterman (Garrett Boweter) and an infant grandson, Sage Boweter.
