Toni Lyn Bradford Chapman

January 29, 1951 — April 17, 2021

Toni Lyn Bradford Chapman slipped away peacefully in the late hours of Saturday, April 17, 2021. She was born to Charles E. (Ted) and Kathryn Jane (Kaye) Cutler Bradford on 29 January 1951, the fourth of their nine children and the eldest of four girls. She grew up a happy girl in happy circumstances in Bountiful, Utah, where she attended school and enjoyed it in spite of her learning challenges. While in high school, she joined the Civil Air Patrol and gloried in the uniform she got to wear. After graduation, Toni enlisted in the Army, where she trained as a first aid attendant in the Medical Corps. While serving, she met and married a fellow soldier, Keith Chapman. In due course, Keith and Toni had a son they named Nels. After several years living in Iowa, they moved back to Utah some time before Keith suffered an early death. Nels remained with Toni to the end of her life.

Toni worked in a variety of service jobs until her physical difficulties made it too hard to continue with her employment. As her mobility became increasingly limited, she became a voracious reader, never far from a book from her voluminous library or, later, an electronic reader. She remained a believing member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints until the end.

Toni was preceded in death by her youngest sister, Tami, her father, and her grandparents. We believe her reunion with Tami was an especially blessed moment.  She is survived by her (95-year-old!) mother, her brothers Dave (Chris), Doug (Christa), Dee (Susan), Daron (Janet), and Dan (Susan), and her sisters Teri (David) and Tina (Ken), and many nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles, and cousins.

We will hold a viewing at Russon Mortuary, 295 N. Main, Bountiful, from 10:30 to 11:00, on Saturday, April 24, 2021, followed by a short funeral service. The services will be Live streamed at russonmortuary.com, then go to this obituary.  We are grateful for the kind care she received in her last hours at the Lakeview Hospital ICU. We also owe an enormous debt of gratitude to her youngest brother, Dan and his wife Susan, for their capable, unflagging assistance to Toni and Nels in managing their financial affairs and living arrangements. We are also grateful that Toni is now free from her earthly pains and difficulties.
