Steven Duane Jensen

January 11, 1951 — May 13, 2022

Steven Duane Jensen was born on January 11th, 1951, to Beth Alice Ahern and Leo Duane Jensen. He was the fifth of six children and is survived by his older brothers Mike and Errol and his sisters Vicky and Gayle. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Jodie.

Steve grew up in Murray, Utah, on 9th East and eventually graduated from Granite High School in 1969. Immediately after graduation Steve enlisted in the United States Navy where he was trained as a Missiles Technician and helped maintain the ballistic missiles aboard the USS James Madison, a Ballistic Submarine. Steve served two enlistment periods, ending his naval career after six years.

Prior to deploying his first time Steve married Susan Diane Bailey, with whom he had three children, Amy, Adam, and David. They lived in South Carolina for most of Steve’s naval career before they eventually divorced in 1980.

Steve remarried a woman named Francie. Unfortunately, little is known to us about this marriage, and we can only approximate that it lasted a couple years before they decided to divorce as well. They did not have any children together.

On May 17th, 1985, Steve married LaPriel Greene in Salt Lake City, Utah. They resided in Chandler, Arizona, while Steve worked as a Hardware Tech at US West. Together they had three children, Timothy, Jessica, and Spencer. In April of 1996, Steve and LaPriel moved their family to Kearns, Utah, where they remained until Steve’s passing on May 13th, 2022.

He passed away in his Kearns home in the early morning surrounded by family. Steve will be missed, and we hope to move forward and honor the relationships we had with him.

A memorial service will be held for Steve at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 21st, 2022, at the LDS chapel located at 5720 South 4270 West, Kearns, UT 84118.
