Stella LaVerna Youngberg Cleverly

May 12, 1923 — May 7, 2021

Stella “LaVerna” Cleverly our matriarch, the last of her generation, passed away May 7, 2021 in her home of 70 years.

LaVerna was born May 12, 1923 in Twin Falls, Idaho to Ernest and Stella May Youngberg. She had four sisters and three brothers.

When she was three years old her family moved to Utah. While attending High school she worked as a nanny for two different families.

She married Willard Franklin Cleverly in the Salt Lake City Temple, November 18, 1942. They would go on to raise five children; four boys and one girl. Kirk (Sue), Rick, Loy, Paula (Brad), and Kim (Shauna). Her family was her pride and joy. She has a great posterity of twelve grandchildren, twenty seven great grandchildren, and nine great great grandchildren.

LaVerna’s second love was her yard. She worked in her yard up until her very last day. Oh, how she beamed as she sat in her gazebo admiring all of her beautiful flowers and hard work where she hosted many parties and weddings.

LaVerna loved to feed people. No one entered her home without the offer of some treat or delicious meal. She could make a meal out of anything; she was an amazing cook even working as an elementary school cook while her kids were growing up.

Her love of decorating and beautiful things was expanded when she, with the help of her husband, son Loy and daughter Paula, owned and ran Stevenson’s Gifts and Office Supplies. She enjoyed many trips to market to pick out inventory for the store.

LaVerna is preceded in death by her husband Willard, her son Loy, and her parents and siblings.

A graveside service will be held Wednesday, May 12, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at the Bountiful City Cemetery, 2224 S. 200 W.

A viewing will be held Wednesday morning before the service from 9:45 a.m. – 10:45 a.m. at Russon Bountiful Mortuary, 295 N. Main Street.
