Stefanie Porter Heslop

February 2, 1987 — September 26, 2021

Stefanie Porter Heslop (34), beloved mother, wife, daughter, sister, Primary president, nurse, and friend to all, graduated this mortal life in the morning hours of Sunday, September 26th, 2021.  With sunlight streaming into her hospital room windows from the rising sun, Stefanie courageously stepped through to the other side of the veil due to complications from heart failure.  Stefanie was born in Webster, Texas on February 2nd, 1987 to Steven J and Jan Cottrell Porter.  A southern belle with brown eyes and blonde hair, Stefanie had a zest for life, an unyielding sense of optimism and was a believer in any who were experiencing challenges in their lives.  Stefanie was the youngest of four children, with three older brothers whom she idolized and adored.

Stefanie graduated from Woods Cross High School in 2005 and began attending Southern Utah University.  She worked as a certified nurse’s assistant at Dixie Regional Medical Center, Utah Valley Hospital and Primary Children’s Medical Center.  While attending the Centerville YSA ward Stefanie met and fell in love with a member of the Elders Quorum Presidency who wisely assigned himself to serve as her home teacher.  The assignment was a success and Stefanie and Michael were married and sealed for time and all eternity on July 16, 2014 in the Bountiful Utah Temple.

In 2016 Stefanie and Michael were blessed with the addition of two new angels into their family, Porter and Zella.  Stefanie would spend the next five years taking her angels on field trips, adventures, learning expeditions and more, spending near constant time with them.  She seemed to recognize that every day counted.  She and Michael enjoyed watching Utah Jazz games, doing puzzles, Bear Lake vacations, and spending time in St. George.

Stefanie epitomized the Savior’s admonition found in John 13:35 and gave her life with increasing intensity to serving those around her.  At the time of her passing Stefanie was serving as the Primary president in the Kensington Ward and thoroughly enjoyed getting to sing with, teach, and lead the children.  Her first words upon receiving that calling were “I need to call my Mom,” something she did multiple times per day throughout her adult life.  Her mom and her Grandma Cottrell were her best friends outside of marriage.  Stefanie passed away three years to the day that her Grandma Cottrell departed this life. Stefanie also loved her father deeply, often sending text messages of love and admiration, seeking his counsel, and continually being the perfect daughter.  Their bond is deep and not confined to the past; ensuring that those feelings of companionship and love will continue.

Michael is the love of Stefanie’s life.  She is his biggest cheerleader and will continue with her encouragement and heavenly support until they are reunited again.

Stefanie is survived by her parents, Steven J Porter and Jan C. Porter; husband, Michael Heslop; her twin children, Porter and Zella; her brothers, S. Derrick Porter (Rebecca), G. Scott Porter (Holly) and M. Rodney Porter as well as 32 nieces and nephews.
