Shirley Walker Aamodt

Shirley Walker Aamodt passed away on her 92nd birthday, September 10, 2026. She left behind a legacy defined by devotion to family, faith and service. 

Born September 10, 1934 in Salt Lake City, Utah, she was the cherished daughter of Ralph and Jetta Winegar Walker. Raised in Syracuse, Utah she grew up with strong family traditions, deep spiritual roots and the values of hard work. 

n 1953 she married her high school sweetheart, D. David Aamodt in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. They raised 6 children, welcomed 15 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. For over 73 years they built a life together, side by side, that serves as a hallmark of hard work plus the forgiveness and mercy required to make a lasting union. Despite challenges, their marriage stands as a beacon of commitment to one another. She carried both joy and sorrow with grace enduring the death of a son, a daughter, a grandson and a son-in-law. Her example will bless generations to come. 

A woman of remarkable capability, she distinguished herself through decades of work as a realtor and broker. From 1976 through 2013, she was regularly a million-dollar producer. Her greatest joy was helping young families purchase their first home. 

Her life was also defined by extraordinary service in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. At the age of 82, she accepted a calling to serve in the Primary Presidency for the Compton Bench Ward. It was one of her most intimidating but cherished experiences. Her fondest memories include serving three full-time missions in Hawaii (Office), San Diego (Mormon Battalion) and St. George Visitor's Center. Her mission years were often remembered as the best years of her marriage because of the spiritual growth, tender mercies and lifelong friendships. 

Shirley loved a cookout and found any reason to host the family. She enjoyed spending time in her flower gardens and sitting on the back patio at sunset. She will be remembered for her gentle wisdom, stories, humor and how she made you feel valued (except when mercilessly playing Hand and Foot).

She is survived by her loving husband, D. David Aamodt; children-Camille Meriwether, William Walker Aamodt, Robert Paul Aamodt (Julie) and Daniel Ralph Aamodt; sister--Susan Monson (David); 14 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two siblings (Kay Walker (Viola) and Sylvia Vincent), her children-James David Aamodt (Lori) and Julie Jeppson (Dennis) , grandson Andrew Aamodt and son-in-law Donald Carlyle Meriwether. 

Friends and family are invited to pay their condolences on Friday, September 18, 2026 at the Russon Brothers, 1941 N Main Street, Farmington, Utah from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM or prior to the services on Saturday, September 19, 2026 at the Compton Bench Chapel, 850 North Compton Road, Farmington, Utah from 9:45 to 10:45. Funeral Services at 11:00.

Interment at the Farmington City Cemetery, 200 East 500 South, Farmington, Utha directly following the service.
