Sherry Pratt Allen

January 2, 1950 — June 29, 2021

Sherry Pratt Allen returned to her Heavenly Father, peacefully on June 29th, 2021 surrounded by her family after a years-long struggle with infection.
Sherry Pratt Allen was born January 2nd, 1950 in Salt Lake City, UT, daughter of Arol Hadfield Pratt and Nellie Henrietta (Linge) Pratt. Sherry was the 2nd youngest of six siblings; Joyce L. Barton, Marious (Reed) Pratt, Frank Pratt, Rey Pratt and David Pratt.
Life Sketch: Sherry grew up in Centerville, UT, graduating from Viewmont High School and Weber State College with a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education. Sherry never strayed far from her roots, living her entire life within a 3 mile radius of her birth home and her beloved city of Centerville.
Sherry was a Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Sister and a Friend to many.
Sherry lived the majority of her life in Bountiful, UT where she raised her four children; Melanie Cranston, JD Allen, Matthew Allen and Kristy Baltazar.
Sherry had a love of music and would spend hours sitting in front of her most favored gift, a piano given to her by her mother. Sherry shared her love of music for many years with Primary children, High School Choirs, Students, Neighbors and Family. Sherry was always singing and humming but didn’t seem to share the same taste with her kids as she would “eagerly” ask them to turn their “music” down. Many times she would answer most often asked questions in song.
Sherry loved to travel with her family and friends. She would be remiss if a vacation took place without her, she never wanted to miss the “party”. Disney World, Disney Land, Zions, Bryce Canyon, Hells Canyon, Bear Lake and of course, Hyrum Dam. Speak to any member of her family or friends and they will have stories to tell of a trip with Sherry!
Sherry loved to be with her family. She fervently held to any tradition that would be an excuse to bring her family to her. Moving a few miles from Centerville and Bountiful was “moving away” in her world and therefore required a party to bring everybody back together! Christmas Eve, 4th of July, “annual bear lake trip”, “Uncle Frank’s Mueller Park BBQ”, Hawaii, Reunions, Cousin trips, trips to the “Cabin”… Any excuse to bring people together.
Sherry was first and foremost a kind, loving and giving individual. She loved her family and friends and would give up anything for a friend in need. Sherry lived to love, serve, mourn and celebrate with others.
Sherry was preceded in death by her parents, brothers and by her Grandchildren; Frankie Baltazar and Brooks Baltazar. She leaves behind on this Earth to carry on her legacy her beloved sister: Joyce L. Barton; Children: Melanie (Michael) Cranston, JD (Val) Allen, Kristy (Bryce) Baltazar, Matthew Allen; Grandchildren: Corwin Darke, Galen (Sara) Darke, Marissa (Kaleb) Maguet, Madison Cranston, Dylan Bailey, Oliver Bear Baltazar, Parks Baltazar; and Great-grandchild: Joseph Darke.
For family and friends a celebration of life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 6, 2021 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 200 North 200 West, Bountiful, UT., where a viewing will be held from 9:30-10:45 a.m. prior to services. Her body will be interred at Centerville City Cemetery

Celebration of her life will be streamed live at Russon Brothers Mortuary Facebook page and on her obituary page at www.russonmortuary.com.

She’ll be glad to know, she’s not missing her funeral!
