Sherrie Butters Trujillo

January 28, 1936 — May 13, 2022

Sherrie Butters Trujillo, born on January 28, 1936, passed away on Friday, May 13, 2022. She was the second of four children born in Morgan to Glen Butters and Mae Chapin and lived there throughout her school years. Sherrie enjoyed working with her father on the family farm, and was known for her work ethic and kind, fun-loving spirit. While in high school she met her sweetheart of 67 years, Robert Louis Trujillo from the neighboring town of Coalville. They were married September 17, 1954, in the Salt Lake City Temple; Bob and Sherrie resided in Bountiful for 65 years. Sherrie worked at Farmers State Bank for 15 years and was respected for her expertise and outstanding customer service. Sherrie was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother devoted to family traditions that kept her family connection strong and lovingly united. Sherrie was a self-proclaimed gigglepuss and her heart overflowed with love for her family and close friends. She loved serving in LDS church callings, family genealogy, gardening, canning, and enjoyed jigsaw puzzles. Many friends and family from far and near would gather at the Trujillo home to enjoy her delicious meals, play games, and laugh while sharing memories. Sherrie would not allow one to leave her home without a loving hug, an ear pinch, or some good food to take for the road. Every fiber of her being was filled with concern for others, and her legacy of love will never be forgotten.

Sherrie is survived by her loving husband, Bob, children Toni Jones (Doug), Shane Trujillo (Denyse), Perry Trujillo, Jill Cleverly, Julie Blanchard (Rick), 13 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and siblings Karel Mae Dickson (Bob) and Brian Butters (Shauna). In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sister LaDell Garrett and grandsons Jay Bateman and Kasey Cleverly.

Friends and family are invited to viewings and funeral services at the LDS meeting house at 1350 S 350 W, Bountiful, Utah, where viewings will be held from 6 – 8 p.m. on Monday, May 16, and from 9:45 – 10:45 a.m. on Tuesday, May 17, with funeral services to follow at 11 a.m. Interment will be at Memorial Lakeview Cemetery in Bountiful.

In lieu of flowers, the family would love donations to support this cause in Sherrie’s name: www.alz.org/utah.
