Sherene H. Whiting

May 15, 1937 — April 14, 2021

On Wednesday, April 14, 2021, Sherene Henrie Whiting, returned to her heavenly home and joined her beloved husband Jay and baby daughter Kelly. Sherene is survived by her daughters Stephanie McEwen (Bob), Danette Henrie (Dan), Shelly Carlile (Brian), eleven grandchildren, and twenty-six great-grandchildren with two more on the way.

Sherene was born in Neola Utah, May 15, 1937 to Farris Henrie and Myrtle Irene Allred and was the sister to Gerald Henrie, Shorlet Leavitt, and Rouel Henrie. After a whirlwind courtship, she married the love of her life, Jay Call Whiting, in the Salt Lake Temple on January 15, 1957.

As a faithful and obedient member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Sherene enjoyed sharing her testimony and teaching others. She desired to be a good example and delighted in seeing the good choices of her posterity.

Sherene had a flair for fashion and was an accomplished seamstress. She found great joy in planting and growing flowers and vegetables. Creating a beautiful home for her family was important. She designed and sewed clothing and curtains, reupholstered furniture and wallpapered… everything! Family history and temple work were dear to her heart, giving hours of service to countless ancestors. She was a good friend and was willing to help those in need.

At the age of 21, Sherene was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. For 63 years she gracefully and courageously managed the numerous health challenges it created.

One of Sherene’s final wishes was that family and friends gather, have a happy time, and enjoy each other’s company. So, please join us on her birthday, Saturday, May 15th from 2:00 – 4:00 pm (sharing memories at 2:30) at the Pavilion behind the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints located at 1298 North 400 West Centerville, Utah to share memories and her favorite pies.
