Sally Jane Pando

June 9, 1953 — August 17, 2021

Sally Pando, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away August 17th in Kaysville, Utah at the age of 68 after a courageous battle with cancer.

Sally was born in Logan, UT, June 9th, 1953. In high school she loved to ski and was a student body officer. She completed her Bachelor’s degree at Utah State University and received a Master’s Degree in education from Brigham Young University. She was a gifted teacher by profession. She left teaching to raise her children but returned to education later in life teaching Family and Consumer Science at West Point Junior High. She loved her many students over the years and especially enjoyed creating bake-off competitions for them.

Sally was an excellent cook and seamstress and loved to share her talents with others. She made many quilts, baby blankets, and blessing outfits for family members and even sewed masks for healthcare workers during the pandemic. She loved making food for her children and would often make their favorites whenever they were together. Sally also had a passion for music. She had many musical talents and enjoyed singing, playing the piano, and serving as choir director for her church.

Her greatest joys in life were her children and grandchildren. Nothing delighted her more than planning her next trip to see family. When visiting, it was not uncommon for her to arrive with hand sewn superhero capes or custom pillow cases for her grandkids that will forever be treasured by them. She had a tender heart and often cried “happy tears” when together with family.  She was known for being a thoughtful, supportive, and loving mother and grandmother.

Sally made friends easily and cherished her many dear friends. Sally had a positive outlook and could see the good even in difficult circumstances.  She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints her whole life and was a woman of great faith. Through the challenges of life she remained strong in her testimony of Jesus Christ, and was a spiritual light to her family and others.

Sally is survived by her siblings Norma Jean Remington, Chad (Connie) Skidmore, Jon (Kathy) Skidmore and her children, Alina (Jordan) Horrocks, Derek (Stephany) Pando, Sean (Rochelle) Pando, Brian (Meredith) Pando, and her 10 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents Charles Jay and Anna Jean Skidmore and her sister Jill Mcgough.

A funeral service will be held to celebrate her life Friday, August 27, 2021 at 11:00 am at the The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Chapel, 500 S Main St, Kaysville, UT 84037 where a visitation will be held from 9:30am to 10:45am prior to the service.
