Sally Warrick Holbrook

April 7, 1953 — October 7, 2021

CENTERVILLE, UT – On Thursday, October 7th, 2021, in a normal, no-fuss, Sally-like way, she unexpectedly departed into the waiting arms of both her earthly and Heavenly parents. She was recently diagnosed with cancer which ultimately took her life. Sally Warrick Holbrook was born on April 7, 1953 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Sally was the youngest daughter and fifth of six children of Devon and Gwen Warrick. She married Gary Holbrook on April 20, 1984 in the Salt Lake City, Utah temple.

In her younger years, Sally had a thirst for adventure and enjoyed traveling. One of her excursions included going to Australia on a whim with a friend to pick up her friend’s brother who was serving a mission there. Her family and friends will remember her alter-ego Rita, who would visit retirement parties to welcome the newcomers to retirement homes.

Sally’s favorite activities included spending time with her family, Silver Sneakers exercise group, evening walks, yearly trips to Bear Lake, watching Jazz games, cooking shows and Hallmark movies. When Sally was a child, her mom got worried that Sally slept so much. Her doctor replied, “it’s okay, she needs it!” Nap time was a permanent fixture in Sally’s daily life under the disguise of “organizing” – planning what she was going to organize while she took a nap. Have you ever known someone who better appreciated a good nap!?

Sally spent her life quietly going about doing good. It was not uncommon to hear stories of doorbell ditching treats to neighbors or sewing quilts for friends and colleagues. She was always thinking of others and looking for ways to serve them. Even her doctors couldn’t escape her kindness and gift-giving. Fresh garden tomatoes, jars of homemade raspberry jam and other various treats somehow made their way to receptionists and doctors alike. While she never got the chance to be a grandma in this life, she grand mothered plenty of little ones around her. Her magic touch could put even the fussiest of babies right to sleep. She spent the majority of her adult membership teaching Primary children in various callings in the Primary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. There was a special place for children in her heart. As a child, Sally struggled with pronouncing her letters correctly. Her experience with a speech pathologist at such a young age inspired her to become one when she grew up. With over 40 years of experience with Davis School District teaching school-age children how to communicate effectively, she touched the lives of many in a positive way.

Sally leaves behind her husband, Gary; daughters Heidi and Kristie and stepson Aaron; and granddogs Gibbs and Tony. She is survived by her siblings KonaDee Thomas, LuAnne (William) Dixon, Merikay (Rick) Haskins, Curtis (Shawna) Warrick and Neil (Lorene) Warrick.

Funeral services will be held at 10am on Wednesday October 13, 2021 at the Centerville South Stake Center, 270 North 300 East, Centerville, Utah. If you have something that Sally sewed for you, we are asking that you bring it with you as we would love to see all the ways she touched others. We are honoring her wishes and will not be having a viewing. She will be buried in the Franklin, Idaho cemetery near her parents. Dedication of the grave will be held promptly at 1:30pm in the Franklin City cemetery.

The funeral service will be streamed live on the Russon Brothers Mortuary Facebook page and on this obituary page.
