Robert Bob L. Nilson, age 83, passed away on Monday, June 21, 2004, in Bountiful, surrounded by his family and Marie, his sweetheart of 62 years. He was born January 25, 1921 in Smithfield, Utah to Parley and Rose Nilson. He was the fourth of nine children. He attended schools in Cache County and helped to run the family farm and developed his strong hands milking cows. In the early forties he moved to Ogden where he met Marie Page. They were married in the Salt Lake Temple January 23, 1941. Bob honorably served his country during World War II in the European theatre. Following the war he and his wife then settled in West Point, Utah. In 1965 his family moved to Bountiful. They raised five children, three sons and two daughters. He was a master carpenter and throughout his life he selflessly shared his talents and time with countless people. He enjoyed working and helping anyone in need. He retired as a HAFB firefighter, he was also a successful farmer, and loved to tell stories and make us laugh. He taught his children and grandchildren kindness, honesty, service and the value of work emphasizing the importance of education. Through his great sacrifice, he provided many opportunities for his family and extended family. He loved to ask you ?How ya doin??? or with a twinkle in his eye, ?Whad da ya want, kid??. He enjoyed surprising his neighbors and family delivering fresh corn and tomatoes. Survived by his wife and children: Robert Linda, Bountiful, Colleen Henry Larsen, West Valley, Paul Cheryl, Centerville, Marsha Craig Case, Centerville, Terry Linda, West Bountiful, 19 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, two brothers, Mark and Kay Nilson, three sisters, Veral Ballard, Jean Perkes, Margaret Henriksen. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister DeLone Spencer, brothers Ferron and Randall Nilson. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm, Saturday, June 26, 2004 at the Bountiful Heights Ward Chapel, 165 South 1000 East, Bountiful. Viewing will be held Friday, June 25, 2004 from 6:00-8:00 pm at the Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 North Main and Saturday, 11:30-12:30 pm at the church prior to services.
