Richard M. Peterson

Richard M. Peterson passed away peacefully at his home in Bountiful on Dec. 2, 2021, of natural causes incident to age.

Richard was born, March 20, 1936, in Castle Dale, Utah to Forrest and Mary Jewkes Peterson. Richard had one sister, Charlane P. Luke and two younger brothers, Edward and Ronald. He attended Castle Dale Elementary School and South Emery High School, graduating in 1954.

He met and dated Dixie L. Williams of Emery, Utah, all through high school and they were married August 30, 1954, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple by temple President ElRay L. Christiansen. They moved to Salt Lake where Richard attended Salt Lake Technical College studying to be a barber. The following year brought them to Bountiful when Richard was hired by Lee Benard. Richard worked at Lee’s Barber Shop in Bountiful for 50 years. He served as young men basketball coach, young men secretary and cub scout master for nine years. He enjoyed both rifle, bow and arrow deer hunting, pheasant hunting and paddlewheel boat cruises.

Graveside services for Richard will be held on Monday, Dec. 6, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. at the Bountiful City Cemetery, 2224 South 200 West, Bountiful Utah. A visitation will be held on Monday afternoon from 1:00 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. at the Russon Mortuary, 295 North Main Street, Bountiful, Utah, prior to the services.
