Raymond Willie Lawrence

July 24, 1948 — July 18, 2022

Devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, coach, and friend, Raymond Willie Lawrence, passed away peacefully in his home Monday July 18, 2022 after a long, brave battle with dementia.
Ray was born in Richmond, CA on July 24, 1948 to Coy Jarvis and Frea Vlastos Lawrence. He loved reminding everyone that the July 24th parades were for him.
Ray married the love of his life, Candice Cannon, on March 17th 1971 in the Fort Douglas Chapel. They, together, raised 5 children, Derek Ryan Lawrence (Tara), Chandra Marie Wolf (Tim), Colby Cannon Lawrence (Nalani), Jonathon Brady Lawrence (Elizabeth), and Clacie Lawrence Langan (Joseph).
Ray grew up in Bountiful, UT and was part of the first graduating class at Viewmont High School, which he was so proud of. Ray courageously served in the Army Infantry in Vietnam, spending his time as a soldier in the jungle. Ray was a sought after painter. Establishing his own business and upscale clientele, he was Painter Ray for almost 50 years. He made many life long friends through his work, especially at Lagoon. Coach Ray was always giving back to the community, he created South Davis Little League Baseball and impacted many lives coaching for years. An avid Utes fan, he carried season football tickets and was in the Crimson Club for most of his adult life. He hardly missed a game and often traveled to attend bowl games to cheer on the Utes, Sugar Bowl being the favorite.
Raymond is survived by his wife, 4 of his children, grandchildren, 5 of his 6 siblings, nieces, nephews, & countless friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, CJ and Sally, his daughter Chandra, his brother Joel, his wife’s parents John S. and Marie Day Cannon.
The family would like to express sincere gratitude to the hospice staff and Social Worker at Intermountain for their tender, compassionate care provided to both Ray and Candy.
