Randal (Randy) Kay Reed

September 24, 1953 — August 25, 2021

Randy passed away peacefully on August 25, 2021, surrounded by his loving wife and children. He was born in Caldwell, Idaho, September 24, 1953 and was the third son and fourth child of Donal J and Leora Wells Reed. He had three brothers, Rick, Rex and Ron and one sister, Sherri. In 1959 the family moved to Bountiful, Utah where he grew up and always considered it his home. He graduated from Bountiful High School and attended one quarter at Brigham Young University. He served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Washington state.

Shortly after returning from his mission, he met Rosa Irene Oscanoa, from Lima, Peru, who later became his eternal companion. He often referred to her as his “Inca Princess”. They were married in the Salt Lake City Temple on December 9, 1977. They were blessed with three wonderful children, Tara Lyn, Nicholas Alejandro, and Erika Nicole. They were the joys of his life and brought him much happiness.

He attended Utah State University where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Communicative Disorders and a Master’s degree in Audiology. He worked in the Cache County School District for four years as an Educational Audiologist. He and Rosa then quit their jobs and moved their small family to Warrensburg, Missouri so he could attend Central Missouri State University where he earned another Master’s degree in Safety Management. He worked for Allied-Signal for four and a half years and spent most of his career working for Questar Gas.

His grandchildren were the light of his life and he loved being called “Papa”. Over the last four years, he and Rosa were blessed with the opportunity of taking care of their three youngest grandchildren four days a week. They kept him busy and young. Nothing brought him more joy and happiness than spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren.

He was a good person with a kind and gentle heart and was nice to everyone. He felt very strongly that everyone deserved to be treated kindly and with respect no matter who they were and he instilled this in his children.

He looked forward to joining his loving parents and seeing his grandparents, cousins (especially Bobby Eddins) and all of his loved ones who have gone on before him.

He is survived by his loving wife Rosa, his three children Tara (Jon Harper), Nick (Ashley), Nicole (Scott Albertson), his six grandchildren, Ashtyn and Avery Glad, Sophie Harper, Lucas Reed, and Ellison and Elliot Albertson. He is also survived by his siblings Rick (Sandy), Rex (Kathy), Sherri (Israel Ruedas), Ron (Cindy) and his many loving nieces and nephews.

A special thanks to all the doctors, nurses and staff at Lakeview Hospital who took such great care of him.

Services will be Saturday, September 4, 2021, 11 a.m., Woods Cross 13th Ward chapel, 1509 W. 1500 S. Friends and family may call Friday, 6-8 p.m., Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 N.
