Phyllis Maud Lunt

January 29, 1935 — December 9, 2020

After almost 86 years Phyllis Lunt left her body and husband between midnight and 2:00 am Wednesday Dec 9, 2020.  She can now move on her own.  She is now free from pain.  She can now hear and see perfectly.  She can be with friends and family she has not seen in years.

Her passing is sad for her husband of 42 years, relatives, and many friends. We will miss all the kind things she did for us and others, when her body allowed her to move freely among us.  Phyllis spread joy and happiness, and is loved by all who knew her.  We all miss her happy smile, and have fond memories of her.

Phyllis had many challenges.  Kidney stones were a lifelong problem.  When she was Sweet 16 she lost her hearing.  She needed a cochlear implant to help her hear for the past 20 years.  Her diabetes meant she had to prick her finger twice a day and record her glucose for almost 20 years.  She had two artificial knees and shoulders.  She was in constant pain, but never complained.

Nothing made Phyllis smile faster than the sight of an infant or a small child.  And that smile filled her face.  Her pain was forgotten.  Phyllis worked in the ward nursery for 17 years.  She cared deeply for all the young children in her charge.  And saw most of “her babies” married.

Phyllis’ accomplishments in this life are many.   She worked in the “back office” for First security bank 42 years.  When she started, the checks had names, but no numbers.  She served faithfully in the Bountiful Temple, on Tuesday mornings for almost 20 years.  In the beginning, she would get up at 3:30 am and drive to the Temple.

Phyllis had many more home and hobby accomplishments.   When she was younger, Phyllis read a lot, and stitched countless projects.  Some sewing projects took years to finish. A lot of thought and time went into every Christmas gift.

Phyllis was born in SLC on 29 Jan 1935 to Alvin and Estella Olsen.   Her younger brother, Dennis,  lives near St George.  Phyllis married Dennis Lunt in In the Salt Lake Temple 31 May 1978.  They have no children.  Family and friends can say their last goodbye at Russon Mortuary, 295 North Main St. in Bountiful Monday evening, December 14, 2020 between 6:00 and 8:00 pm.

A family graveside service will be held at the Bountiful, UT City Cemetery 11:00 a.m.
