Oliver Lamar Peacock

March 6, 1940 — January 15, 2021

Oliver “Ollie” Lamar Peacock, loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, passed away on Friday, January 15, 2021, at McKay Dee Hospital in Ogden, Utah. Ollie, as he was affectionately known, was surrounded by family at the time of his passing.

Born in Ely, Nevada on March 6, 1940 to Clifford Lamar Peacock and Lucy Mary Peacock, he was the sixth of seven children. Ollie grew up near Ely in Lund, Nevada, on a small dairy farm milking cows from a young age. He graduated from Lund High School in 1958, where he was 1 of the graduating class of 5. In high school, he loved playing on the high school basketball team, was Class President and State Officer for the Nevada Chapter of FFA. Lund High School is where he met Lillian Trautman, the love of his life. He married Lillian in the St. George Temple on September 1, 1959, and graduated with a B.S. Degree in Business Administration from Sacramento State University in 1968.

Ollie was well-respected by his friends, clients, and co-workers. He was an honest and hardworking man, and people could depend on his word. He had a way of putting a smile on people’s faces. He had a witty sense of humor and was known for his “Ollie” jokes, which were really a play on words (puns). He loved singing (even yodeling) and playing the guitar, especially for his children, until he broke his finger playing basketball and could no longer play the guitar.

An active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he faithfully served in several callings over the years. He retired as the Southern California Regional Sales Manager for Golden Eagle Distributing in 2004. Ollie spent most of his retirement with Lillian in Gilbert, Arizona. Recently they moved to Farmington, Utah to be near family due to Ollie’s declining health.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Lillian, his four daughters (Donna Sorenson, Patti Samons, Angie Gummersall, and Lori Haskin), 13 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and three sisters.
