"Mick" Ira Gray

"Mick" Ira Gray 86, of Bountiful, Utah, passed away on Monday March 2, 2020 peacefully surrounded by family.  Mick Gray was born on March 11, 1933 in Peoria, Illinois.  He was known as Mick often joking, he didn't know his real name, Ira until the fifth grade.
Mick was a very talented golfer and spent all the time that he could enjoying many golf courses. His deep love for golfing lead him to meet the love of his life, Mary Lou Lund while working as an assistant golf coach. Mary Lou was golfing with her parents when approached by Mick as he told her that she wasn't able to wear short shorts on the first tee, she stated she wasn't wearing short shorts, he followed by, "I know, but how else could I meet you". That was the beginning of their love story, Mick and Mary Lou were married at the same place they first met, Oakridge Country Club on November 9th, 1961. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake City Temple on May 28, 1968. Their love only grew with time and spent 59 years as husband and wife. He was an active member of the LDS church serving many roles that he treasured deeply.
Mick was an incredible father to six children. Mick always made sure each of his children were taken care of and knew how much he loved and cared for them. He was a dedicated grandfather to 18 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. He had a way of ensuring each of his family members knew his dedication and love for them making each feel as they were the favorite. Mick had a special way of serving others and ensuring those around him knew that they could count on him.
One of his greatest joys in life was his career operating Mick Floral creating beautiful arrangements and forming lifelong friendships. The flower shop provided an outlet for creativity and also served as a second home where many nights, weekends, and holidays were spent there together as a family. Mick loved being outdoors and enjoying fresh air, making sure his lawn was nicely cut, perfectly green, and caring for a beautiful garden made him very happy. Not many things brought more joy than being with family, having dinner in his beautiful backyard during the summertime.
Mick was predeceased by his son Michael Gray, his parents, and his brother Ronny. He is survived by his wife Mary Lou Gray, his children, Candi Wadsworth, Laura Lee Cantwell (Jim), Paul Gray (Melissa), Steven Gray (Melissa), and Jacque Gray, his siblings, Ernie Gray, Sharon Moyers and Gary Willms.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. at the Bountiful Hills Ward, 1190 East Bountiful Hills Dr. A viewing will be held Friday evening from 6-8 p.m at Russon Mortuary, 295 North Main, Bountiful and Saturday morning 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at the church prior to services. Interment-Bountiful City cemetery.
