Michael Craig Kuepper

December 29, 1942 — December 6, 2021

Michael Craig Kuepper passed away on Monday, December 6, 2021 at the age of 78. He was surrounded by his family at the time of his passing, and we are grateful that we could spend the last few hours with him. Michael was born on December 29, 1942 to John Helmut Kuepper and Barbara Fromm Cooper in Provo, Utah.

He grew up with his mother in the Avenues. After graduating from West High School, Mike joined the United States Coast Guard and was stationed in Alaska where he traveled the coast servicing lighthouses. Upon being discharged from the Coast Guard he returned home to Utah where he met Judy. They were married and sealed in the Salt Lake Temple in October of 1967. Together, Mike and Judy built a beautiful and welcoming home and a family that loved to do things together. They always looked forward to their yearly vacations to Jackson Hole and their rafting trips down the Snake River.

Mike had a passion for cars and enjoyed collecting and restoring classic cars. He was full of life and enjoyed the outdoors. He truly enjoyed fishing trips with his high school friend Mike Hauser at Smith and Morehouse Reservoir. Mike and Judy were fortunate to have traveled many places together and especially enjoyed taking cruises and making memories with family.

Mike worked at Utah Power & Light for 28 years where he became a heavy equipment operator. After retiring from Utah Power & Light he went to work at North Salt Lake Parks Department. Mike was always quick to serve his family and others in need. He will be remembered for his exceptional work ethic, his powerful testimony, and his willingness to help at any hour of the day or night. He served faithfully in the LDS Church in numerous callings including volunteering at the Bountiful Temple and serving a four-year service mission in the Centerville dry pack facility with Judy.

He is survived by his wife, Judy, stepbrother Steven (Susan) Kemp, children: Brian (Michelle) Kuepper, Shelley (Bruce) Tonks, Kimberly (Greg) Thomas, Blake (Adriana) Kuepper, Lacey (Matt) Unrein, Rachel (Cary) Wichmann, and nineteen grandchildren and one great-grandson. He is preceded in death by his father and mother.

The family is forever grateful for the services that Quality Home Health & Hospice provided to him and his family, especially Julie Jensen. Thank you for the tender care you provided to Mike and our family.

Funeral services will be Saturday, December 11, 2021, at 11 a.m. at 1450 South 350 West, Bountiful, UT 84010. There will be a viewing at the church from 9-11 a.m., prior to the services. Interment will be in the Bountiful City Cemetery, 2224 South 200 West, Bountiful, Utah 84010.
