Marvin O Putnam

October 8, 1931 — February 16, 2022

Marvin Owen Putnam Sr. – Beloved Husband, Father and Grandpa passed away Feb 16, 2022, at the age of 90 years old.

Born October 8th, 1931, in Kaysville, Utah as the 5th child of 6, to Joseph Owen and Breta Lee Putnam. When he was one year old his family moved to Bountiful, Utah where he resided the rest of his life.

He married Patsy Ann Best on January 27, 1951. They were married for 71 wonderful years, having recently celebrated their anniversary. Together they had 2 sons who always knew how much they were loved and enjoyed wonderful opportunities and memories as a family. Marvin loved musicals and spending time with his boys, his brothers and sisters and their families, and friends; camping, playing card games, going to Bear Lake, Flaming Gorge and his cabin in the Uinta’s.

Mar was employed at I.M.L. Freight and C.F. Motor Freight for a combination of 42 years of dedicated service. He was honored repeatedly for never having an accident while driving, often pulling up to 3 trailer loads at a time. He was such a reliable employee he was always counted on to lend an extra hand, especially when they needed someone strong!  He retired in 1993 from Teamsters Union.

Marvin had a great love for animals, especially horses. He loved riding, training and caring for them. He would often be seen down at the pasture after work looking after them and had a way of nursing injured animals back to health.

Mar would be up at sunrise every day working outside. He always had a beautiful yard and garden and enjoyed sharing the fruits of his labors with neighbors and family. He loved to go out in the garden and eat his vine ripened tomatoes, picking his peas and pumpkins with his granddaughters, eating cucumber sandwiches and making butternut squash soup.

Marvin shared a lifetime of giving selflessly with family and friends and he was always a hard worker. When he got his first job, as a young teenager, he saved his money to buy his mom her first electric stove. He continued to work hard and save his money to purchase things he knew she wanted or needed.

Marvin was Patsy’s True Love. He took such great care of her, and she is so thankful she was able to spend 71 years of marriage with her wonderful champion.

Marvin is survived by his adoring wife Patsy, his 2 sons Marvin Owen Jr. (Bonnie) Putnam, Marc (Kristin) Putnam, 5 granddaughters Tiffany (Robert) Kastelic, Brittany (Steve) Sainz, Sharidee (Brody) Berg, Cecelia Putnam and Arlie Putnam, 7 great grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Dorothy Nelson. He was proceeded in death by his parents and 4 brothers: Jack, Dale, Wayne and Paul Putnam.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 23 at 2:00 pm at Russon Mortuary, 295 N. Main St, Bountiful. A viewing for family and friends will be from 1:00-1:45 prior to services.  Friends and family are welcomed. Mar would want you to be comfortable so please dress casually.

Interment immediately afterward at the Bountiful Cemetery.
