Marion W Heaps

December 6, 1935 — January 30, 2021

Our kind, gentle-giant of a husband, dad, grandpa, and brother left us January 30, 2021. Marion was born December 6,1935 in Teasdale, Utah to Joseph Melvin and Norma Orton Heaps. He served in the US Air Force from January 1955 to December 1958. Upon his return home, he served in the Southern California mission. He married Esther Jane Roundy in the Salt Lake Temple on August 25, 1961; they have four children – Randall (Carissa), Alisa (DeOrr) Wight, Melanie (Brian) Tingey, and Marci (Chad) Howey.

Marion had a great love for the Gospel. He loved the outdoors, camping, backpacking and fishing. He loved BYU basketball and football. He especially loved his family and being around his grandkids. If you knew Marion, you loved him. He is survived by his wife, his children, 21 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, 3 sisters, LuAnn, Glenda, and Connie, brother David Brent, and their spouses. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother LeGrande, and grandson Peter.

A family funeral will be held Thursday, February 4 at 10:00, Russon Mortuary, 295 North Main, Bountiful, where there will be a small, Covid friendly viewing before the funeral from 9-9:45. It will be available to watch on Russon Brothers Mortuary Facebook page starting at 10:00. Interment at Newton Cemetery. Our family would like to thank those who took part in his care, especially the Encompass Health team and the VA Hospital staff. Just like you wanted dad: “no honey, no flowers”.
