Margaret Elton

d. February 19, 2006

Our beloved Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother, Margaret Kathleen Newman Elton returned to our Heavenly Father and her sweetheart Jack, on February 19, 2006. She was born in Manila, Utah on October 17, 1917 to Wendell Allen and Hilda Marie Fowler Newman. She married her dear husband, Jack Harold Elton, May 22, 1936 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Immediately after, they left for California where they lived for 47 years and raised five children. Margaret was a great homemaker, cook and seamstress and held many church callings in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She did many hours of genealogy and temple work. She was Relief Society President in the Westchester I Ward, Inglewood Stake and gave many hours of service and was always happy to do so. Margaret and Jack were ordinance workers in the LDS Los Angeles Temple and she always said it was her favorite place to be. They were called on a mission to Jackson Mississippi in 1983 and sold their home in Westchester, California where they lived for 32 years. After their mission they moved to Bountiful, Utah to be close to their family. They lived in their much loved home in Bountiful until illness made them decide to move to Bountiful House. We had many wonderful years with Mom and were so grateful we could have her so long. She gave us many moments of happiness with her bright smile and great love. She loved to joke and laugh and throughout all her pain she rarely complained. She said, ?Nothing?s so bad it couldn?t be worse.? Her concern has always been for her family. She especially loved her grandbabies. Margaret is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jack, who passed on November 3, 1999. She is survived by her children, Robert Elton Loretta of Davenport, Florida; Joyce Dyer Grady of Bountiful, Utah; Larry Elton Marion of Henderson, Nevada; Connie Erskine Scott of Bountiful, Utah and Dennis Elton Barbara of Meridian, Idaho; 34 grandchildren and 73 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Joseph Newman
