Lowell Lofgreen

December 28, 1942 — April 26, 2021

Lowell Dale Lofgreen, 78, of Bountiful, passed away April 26, 2021.

Lowell was born to Willard (Bill) Lofgreen and Elsie Bishop on December 28, 1942 in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was the youngest of four children.

He attended Stoker Elementary, South Davis Jr. High, and Bountiful High School. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

Lowell was a talented athlete and he especially loved basketball. At Bountiful High he lettered in football and basketball. He received the Fletcher Award, was an All-State player, and was awarded an athletic scholarship to Utah State University.

More athlete than scholar, Lowell later transferred to Weber State College as a “starving college student without a dime in my pocket”, and began his career at Mt. Fuel Supply Co. (Questar), and never looked back.

He married Coy Peterson in 1967 and they built a home in Farmington, where they raised their three children.

Lowell enjoyed the outdoors, taking family vacations, weekend camping trips to the Uintas, the annual deer hunt, playing golf, and fishing at the Gorge and Strawberry with friends and family.

Retiring from Questar after 32 years, Lowell started his own business, Gas Line Specialists, where he used his skills installing fireplace and appliance gas lines.

Due to limitations resulting from heart surgery and a stroke in 2018, Lowell was unable to continue many recreational activities, but looked forward to spending morning coffee and lunch with “the guys” and going to Wendover with Hillman.

This past year, isolation from family and friends due to the Covid-19 pandemic was particularly hard on him. His health deteriorated rapidly and he passed away from heart failure at his home. He fought so hard to stay with us, but we are comforted knowing he is no longer suffering.

Lowell was preceded in death by his parents and brother and sister-in-law Bill and LuJean Lofgreen. He is survived by his wife Coy, children: Pamela, Alex (Tiana Jenkins), Jeffrey (Tiffany Vincent), six delightful grandchildren: Lexiss, Ember, Bo, Eryn, Eva, and Ellisyn; sisters Joan (Rod-deceased) Lewis, Carol (Don) Hartinger; and a large extended family and many dear friends. He also leaves behind Teddy, his loyal, loving dog.

A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 1, 2021 at the Bountiful City Cemetery, 2224 South 200 West.

The family extends their deepest gratitude to Dr. Joshua Oaks, Dr. Roja Mulamalla, Atlas Homecare, and South Davis Metro Fire Station #81.
