Lola Luisa Gladys Patiño Stubbs

December 31, 1952 — December 28, 2020

Lola Luisa Gladys Patiño Stubbs passed through the veil on Monday, December 28, 2020, after an 11-month battle with brain cancer. Lola passed away in her home, surrounded by her husband and five children.

Lola entered this life in Chosica, Lima, Peru on December 31, 1952, although her birth was officially recorded on January 3, 1953 to Andrés Avelino Patiño Cárdenas and Trinidad Lola Taco Romero. With her family, she moved to the City of Lima where she attended school and received many art and academic awards. In 1970, she graduated from Juana Alarco de Dammert.

Lola came from a religious family and was devoted to God at a young age. In early 1965, her family was introduced to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where her love of God increased and her knowledge of the gospel of Jesus Christ led her to living a life filled with service. She was baptized as a member of The Church with her mother and siblings on August 15, 1965.

Lola attended Brigham Young University (BYU) 1971-1978, graduating with a B.S. in Food Science and Nutrition. While at BYU, she also began dating her future husband, Eric Stubbs. Lola and Eric were sealed in the Provo, Utah Temple on July 6, 1974.

Lola dedicated her life to teaching and coaching clients in health and wellness. Her commitment to the people she served was unparalleled, and she cherished the relationships she developed with them.

First and foremost, Lola was a loving and dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother (Lita) who loved her family deeply. Her greatest joy was spending time supporting her posterity and cheering them on in all of their activities. Lola also always loved dancing, and it wasn’t uncommon to find her dancing with her children and grandchildren in the living room.

She is survived by her husband, Eric Stubbs, their five children and their spouses, Ruth (Rusty) Henderson, Andrew (Emily) Stubbs, David (Brandy) Stubbs, Elizabeth (Will) Behunin, and James (Lindsay) Stubbs, and 15 grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Martha Patiño Burke, and her brother, Walter Patiño, and their spouses and children. She is preceded in death by her mother Trinidad Lola, her father, Andrés, and two other siblings who died in infancy.

In light of COVID precautions, the family will hold a private funeral service at Russon Mortuary in Farmington (1941 N. Main St. Farmington, UT 84025) on Monday, January 4th at 10:30 a.m. (Mountain Standard Time). The service will also be available to the public with a live stream accessible on the Russon Mortuary and Crematory Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/Russon-Mortuary-Crematory-105412734572327.  Prior to the service, a viewing for family members will be held 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. and a public viewing will be held at the mortuary Sunday, January 3rd 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
