Jonathan Knut Foster

December 16, 1986 — September 21, 2021

Jonathan Knut Foster, 34, passed away in his home on Tuesday afternoon, the 21st of Sept. If the phrase “larger than life” applied to anyone, it would be to describe Jon. He was a 280 pound, 6’5″ personality long before his physical stature caught up to it. He laughed loudly, talked lively, hugged powerfully, celebrated his Norwegian Viking heritage, lifted epic amounts of weights, and drove every vehicle like it was the getaway car in a bank robbery or the hero in a fast and furious movie.

Jon was always noticed when he entered a room, not only for his size, but because he had a gift for drawing friends and strangers towards him and to each other. Jon’s contagious energy united everyone in a joyful celebration of life and whatever gifts it had to give.

Jon was, above all, a fierce and loyal friend. Everyone who knew Jon thought he was their best friend. He treated his friends with devotion, always there for them in difficult times and in times of celebration. Jon adored birthdays and brought irrepressible joy to the party. Even those who didn’t know Jon as well would ask his closer friends to “please invite Jon” to make sure everyone had a great time.

Jon was a force of nature, one that could not be contained, managed, or restricted. He was a wild giant with nothing but kindness in his heart and goodwill for everyone. He will be deeply missed by anyone blessed enough to know him. We won’t understand why he died as he did. He was such a force for joy and love, who celebrated life at every opportunity. This mystery will never be understood by the army of people who loved him and celebrated their joys with him.

Jon was a proud Eagle Scout who put 100% into everything he pursued. He graduated from Weber State University with a degree in Professional Sales and was consistently in the top 3 in sales for selling fuel to trucking companies.

He is survived by his mother Elizabeth (& Marvin), his father Douglas (& Janice), his sister Heidi (& Scott), and his brother Byron (& Mekenna), his younger brother and closest friend in the world Travis, and his grandparents in Norway, Knut and Åse Holth, and by a community of people whose lives will forever be less complete, less joyful, and less hopeful without him.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 29, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Russon Bountiful Mortuary, 295 North Main, Bountiful, Utah where a viewing will be held on Tuesday evening, September 28, 2021 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. and on Wednesday from 12:30 – 1:30 p.m. prior to the service.
