John Jacob Cline

October 24, 1941 — August 1, 2021

John Jacob Cline beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend returned to our Father in Heaven on August 1st at 11:56 pm after a long battle of Alzheimer’s.

John is survived by his wife Karen Sleight Cline, his children Sandra Lynn Cline Piggott (Doug Merrill Piggott) and Scott John Cline (Ranae Bettridge Cline) and Paul Allen Cavanaugh (Jaime Smart Cavanaugh), 17 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren and 3 more great grandchildren on the way.

Preceded in death are his father Frank Lewis Cline Sr., Mother Ivah Jane Blodgett, brother Frank Lewis Cline Jr. and brother James Edward Cline.

John was born on October 24, 1941, in Glendale California. John was the 2nd child of three boys, born to loving parents Frank Lewis Cline Sr and Ivah Jane Blodgett. The family moved to Panguitch Utah in 1952 where he graduated in 1960.

On December 6, 1963, he married the love of his life Karen Sleight of Montpelier Idaho. They were later sealed in the Bountiful Temple for all time and eternity on June 23, 2018.

John Joined the Navy in 1963-1967 on the USS Ogden LPD-5 and the USS Magoffin APA-199.

John received many degrees, from his associates to his master’s degree. decorated He was decorated with many awards and certificates throughout his career. John loved to teach. He taught Automotive Technology at Layton High from 1969-1995. John finished his career as an Associate’s Professor at Weber State University teaching electronic courses in the Automotive Technology Program from 1983 to 2002.

Spending time with his family and friends is what made John the happiest. He enjoyed hunting, camping, 4 wheeling, working on cars, carving his beautiful famous walking sticks. Don’t forget he loved his Diet Coke.

John was always a great example of love and service to all and a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

The Cline family would like to thank Maria, Diane, Paxton, Jessie, Shanna and Bailey from Independent Hospice, The VA Hospital and The Marian Center for taking good care of John during his final days with us.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday August 7, 2021 at the Bountiful 11th Ward, located at 115 East Wicker Lane, Bountiful, Utah 84010, where a viewing will be held from 8:45-9:45 am prior to services.

Interment will be held at the Montpelier City Cemetery where John will be laid to rest.
