JoAnn McClain Ellis

March 13, 1941 — December 18, 2021

ElDean JoAnn McClain Ellis passed away peacefully on December 18, 2021, after a yearlong struggle with health issues. JoAnn was the daughter of Alton and ElDean McClain. She was the second child of six and the oldest girl. JoAnn Married George Edwin Ellis Jr on September 19, 1959. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake City Temple on December 18, 1963. She was the cherished mother to 4, grandmother to 16 and great grandma to 8. She also had many more that called her mom and grandma.

JoAnn had many talents and shared them with many. You may have received a baby blanket that she crocheted around or a tied quilt to comfort you after a surgery. JoAnn was well known as the “Checker at Albertsons” even after being retired for 18 years. You may also know her for the many calling she held within The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
JoAnn leaves behind her husband of 62 years, George E. Ellis Jr.  Children Gary (Bobbi) Ellis, Lisa (Daren ) Black, Denise (Steve) DeCol, Matt (Rachel) Ellis, 16 grandchildren ,8 great grandchildren and siblings Alan McClaiin, Alta (Craig) Allred, Lynn (Dixie) McClain , Joey (Bob) Liddiard and brother-in-law Gary Cobbley. Preceded in death by her parents Alton and ElDean McClain, sister Phyllis Cobbley, nephew Kris Cobbley, sister-in-law Merlene McClain.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, December 30, 2021 at the Woods Cross 2nd Ward, 795 West 1500 South, Woods Cross. A viewing will be held Wednesday evening from 6:00-8:00 pm at Russon Mortuary, 295 North Main, Bountiful, UT., and Thursday morning from 9:30-10:30 am at the church prior to services. Interment-Lakeview cemetery.
