Janice Leah Last Castleton

June 18, 1933 — January 8, 2022

Janice Leah Last Castleton was born on June 18, 1933, in Garland, Utah. She passed away on January 8, 2022, at 7:30 pm. in West Bountiful, Utah. She was the daughter of Charles and Mildred Last. She had two older siblings, Eva Dean Rydalch and Charles Boyce Last. She married her sweetheart, Jerry Castleton, on May 16, 1952, in the Logan Utah Temple.

They started their life together in Rocks Springs, Wyoming where Jerry had a job working for JC Penney. While living in Rock Springs, they welcomed three sons, Lon, David, and Reo. JC Penney Co. transferred them to Price, Utah, in June 1957, where they lived for four years. They were then transferred to Twin Falls, Idaho in June of 1961. While living in Twin Falls, they welcomed their only daughter, Nancy Castleton Robinson. On January 1st, 1964, they were transferred to Buhl, Idaho where they spent the next five and a half years. Jerry was then transferred to the JC Penney store in downtown Salt Lake City in July of 1969. Here they bought a home in Centerville, where they lived for 32 Years.  They moved to Woods Cross, Utah in 2001 where they stayed for 16 years.

They have lived in West Bountiful for the last 3 years where they have developed good friendships with their neighbors.

She followed her husband, Jerry, around the world as he toured with the Tabernacle Choir. While the choir rehearsed in the many different venues, Jan was out on the street making friends.

She and Jerry served a mission to Armenia and a mission at the Family History Center in Salt Lake City. They served an inner-city mission in Salt Lake in their early 80’s.

Jan was always a people person who went out of her way to make others feel welcome. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christs of Latter-Day Saints. She loved her church and her neighbors.

She was always finding ways to serve her family, neighbors, and new acquaintances.  After her children were raised, she went to work at different jobs including Dick’s Market in the butcher’s department, Davis County Schools as a cook, and at a local bank where she spent 25 years.

We want to thank Hospice, many family members and friends for the support and love we have felt.
