Ida Leonard

d. January 24, 2004

Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend, Ida R. Leonard passed away Saturday, January 24, 2004 at the age of 89 of natural causes. She was born February 9, 1914 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Gustav A and Louisa Hofer Reichmann, the youngest of 7 children. She grew up and was educated in Salt Lake City graduating from the University of Utah with a degree in Business Education. She taught Shorthand and Typing at Bountiful High School for 20 years. In June 1975, she was awarded the Utah Vocational Association Outstanding Teacher Award in recognition of her superior and dedicated service. She married Grant Hall Leonard October 27, 1938 in the Salt Lake Temple. They are the parents of four children, Louise Robert Chamberlain of Bountiful, UT.; Richard G. Lucille of Centerville, UT.; Dr. John R. Susan Cheyenne, WY.; and Ida Jean Merrill Muir of Randolph, UT. She is survived by her husband, children, 15 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren. The oldest great-grandchild, upon learning there was a Grandma and Great Grandma, made the distinction by calling her Grandma Great, and she was pleased to have that title. Her family was very important to her. She was proud of each one and always happy to be with one or two or all of them. She was a devoted and caring wife, mother, and grandmother, always doing everything she could to help her husband, children and grandchildren. She was kind and generous and touched the lives of many people. She was a very special person, and will be remembered for her quick wit, tender loving care, and thoughtfulness. She will be missed by all who knew her. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints all her life, serving in all auxiliary organizations. She served on the Stake level as well as the Ward level in Primary and MIA. She also served as ward organist. She enjoyed playing the organ at home and we loved to listen to her beautiful music. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers and sisters, Adella Reichmann, George Reichmann, Dr. Wilford J. Reichmann, Owen G. Reichmann, Helen R. Robinson, and Dr. Hyrum R. Reichmann. Special thanks to the caring staffs at Bountiful House Assisted Living Center, South Davis Community Hospital, Dr. Nedda Hendler and Stacey Stokes, RN Community Nursing Services. Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 29, 2004 at 12:00 noon in the Val Verda Stake Center, 2651 South 500 West, Bountiful, Utah.
