Harry Melvin Weir

Harry M. Weir, born January 7, 1927, passed away on October 7, 2021, due to old age.  He was born in Pocatello, Idaho to Leon Thomas Weir and Edna Gertrude Briscoe Weir.  He joined the Navy at the end of World War II at the age of 17 and was proud to be called one of America’s Greatest Generation.

Harry married Eloise Olson in 1949.  They had five children: Katherine, Patricia, Craig, Teri, and Jon.  He took his two sons on a memorable three-month long vacation in the summer of 1971 to hike along the east coast of Florida and the Appalachian Trail.  Harry and Eloise enjoyed taking their family on trips to visit many National Parks and Monuments throughout the West.  Their children fondly remember Sunday drives visiting local forests and scenic areas. They taught their children to enjoy and respect public lands and to leave them litter and graffiti free.

Harry was preceded in death by his wife, Eloise, and his daughter Kathy.  He is survived by his daughters Patricia and Teri, and his sons, Craig and Jon, and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date attended by family and close friends.
