Gloria Ashton Hermanson

December 12, 1927 — April 28, 2021

Our beautiful Mom, Gloria Ashton Hermanson, died on April 28, 2021 at the age 93. Gloria was born to Dean V. Heath and Aliene Fidkin Ashton on December 12, 1927 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Being an only child, but having numerous wonderful cousins in their neighborhood on Capitol Hill, she had a full and happy childhood.  She enjoyed spending summers at the family cabin in Little Cottonwood Canyon and in the winters, sledding down the steep streets on Capitol Hill.  She graduated from West High School in 1945 and later studied homemaking, art, and fashion design at the University of Utah.

Gloria married Ramon B. Hermanson on January 28, 1949. He was the light of her life. They traveled the world and enjoyed many family trips which included boating, camping, hiking and skiing together.

Gloria was an accomplished artist and seamstress. She also made every holiday special with her decorations and famous pies. She served in a variety of callings in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and had a special talent for connecting with the scout aged boys. She helped many young men advance in scouting and grow in the Gospel.

Mom always had a bright smile, a cheerful attitude, an abundance of love, a kind word, a listening ear, a sense of humor and a warm hug. She reminded us to have faith and be prayerful always, and to not let worry occupy space in our hearts. She lived her life with grace, courage and optimism. We are grateful to have loved and been loved by her and to have her Christlike example in our lives. She will be dearly missed.

Gloria is preceded in death by her husband, Ramon and son, Steve. She is survived by her daughters Debbie (John), and Sherrie (Dave); grandchildren: Kerry, RaNae, Brooke, Brittany, David, Angela, Mike, Carson and Ashton; great grandchildren: Kiya, Kayla, Cody, Cassidy, Kinnley, Colton, Kelsey, Taylor, Alexandria, Daxton, Eloise, William, Kate, Emmaline, Aaliyah, Adeline, Ava, Makai, Cooper, Bennett, Colby, Elizabeth, Samantha, Camila, Dillan, Damien, and great- great grandson, Remington.

A visitation will take place on Thursday, May 6th at Russon Mortuary, 295 N. Main Street, Bountiful, from 6:00-8:00 pm. Graveside service, for family only, will be held Friday, May 7th at the Bountiful City Cemetery, 2224 S. 200 W, Bountiful.

A special thank you to all the medical and CNS Hospice staff as well as Dr. Southworth and Dr. West who cared for her.
