Erika Merrill

February 13, 1973 — January 26, 2022

Erika Merrill, our beloved daughter, sister, and friend joined the Heavenly Realm Wednesday January 26, 2022 at her home in North Salt Lake, Utah surrounded by family and friends.
Erika was born February 13th, 1973 in Logan, Utah to Norris and Kathleen Pearce Merrill. She was welcomed by 2 sisters and later 3 brothers. She was a happy child full of life, love, and creativity.
She belonged to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and was an active leader in Primary, Young Women’s, YW Camp director, and Relief Society Enrichment Night co-leader.
Erika graduated from Box Elder High School, where she excelled at basketball. She was set to play college ball in Alaska, but was unable to pursue that due to life altering injury. She attended Utah State University in Logan. She completed and then taught the Dave Ramsey Financial Peace University course, which helped in her career. She worked for Credit Unlimited in Centerville, Utah as a fulfillment team manager.
Erika loved music. She loved singing with family and friends and played the piano by ear.
Erika worked for The Great Life Foundation, a self-improvement course for adults and teens, where she was the Facilitator of the Teen’s Training. She assisted in empowering countless teens and adults to improve their lives and learn valuable life skills. She impacted hundreds of lives with her love and compassion. She loved every teen she worked with like they were her own children. She absolutely loved everyone she was able to assist throughout her many years of service.
Erika is survived by her parents and sisters: Christina Merrill (children Amy (Kolby) Mehlhoff {grandchildren Milla and Kendrick}, Jason Bischoff, Juliana (Nathan) Bradford), Jennifer Merrill. Brothers: Ben Merrill (children Preston (Liz) {grandchildren Jasper & Juniper}, Cameron (Taylor) Merrill & Kenadee Merrill), Richard (Wendy) Merrill (sons Karter and Zach), Aaron Merrill (son Kastin and fiance Alexandra). Also, our Vegas family: Summer (Ben) Jensen (children Elle, Aiden, & Jude).
Instead of a funeral, Erika chose to have a Living Celebration of life on January 22, 2022 in Woods Cross. There she was able to see and say goodbye to hundreds of friends and family. We got to hold her hand, give her hugs, look her in the eyes, and thank her for being the amazing person she is. We were able to let her know what a huge impact she made on the lives of those that had the honor to know and love her. We also got a chance to be sad she was leaving us so soon, yet somehow happy she would be out of the pain that came with the cancer.
Erika requests those that want to honor her, please donate to northernutahcancerfoundation.org (Trusted Partner in Fighting Cancer), in her name.
Erika was cremated and was laid to rest at sea with the turtles in Turtle Bay, Hawaii on her 49th birthday by Alex and Hillary Boulter.
Thank you to Dr. Gray and Dr. Evans and their staffs, Hospice, and all other medical personnel who took such good care of Erika for the past two years.
Erika wants everyone to know she loves life and loves everyone. She is just going ahead to get the party stated, she will be ready to welcome you when your turn here on earth is completed.
Close friends Jordan Western and Tanner Petroff have put together a website: welovereika.club (Reika) to celebrate Erika.
