Eric DeVon Lott

August 12, 1982 — August 10, 2022

Eric Lott took his chance to be done with pancreatic cancer and chemo treatments on Wednesday, August 10, 2022, just two days shy of his fortieth birthday.  Eric was born to amazing parents, Gary and Gayla Lott, on August 12, 1982 and started winning people over with his charming personality and happy dimples from day one. He was the middle child of five children, surrounded by two brothers and two sisters. He grew up in Riverton and attended Bingham High School where he was a three sport athlete, excelling in soccer, football, and wrestling.  He took first in state his junior year in wrestling and always loved re-living old matches with his dad and brothers.  After high school, he served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints to Donetsk, Ukraine where he learned Russian and how to stay on his feet in the winter.  He dearly loved his mission presidents, companions (“the cool elders”), and the people there.   He loved sharing his testimony in word and example wherever he went. Eric met his wife and soulmate, Shannon Whipple, on a blind date of sorts at Utah State and they fell in love instantly and were married on August 4, 2005 in the Salt Lake Temple.  Eric attended Salt Lake Community College and the University of Utah and graduated with his Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.  He went on to get his Masters of Accounting from Weber State and his CPA certification.  He loved numbers and enjoyed the people he got to meet in his career.  Just two months before his cancer diagnosis, Eric was thrilled to start his own accounting business with friends and fulfilled a lifelong dream to own his own business.

Eric loved the gospel of Jesus Christ and treasured his opportunity to serve in his church.  He was an Elders Quorum President for 11 years of his marriage and absolutely loved the men in his quorums and serving them. He was thrilled to be serving with the young men in his last eighteen months. Eric lived his life full of people and passions. He was an avid BYU football fan, snowboarder, a fisherman, a hunter, amateur woodworker, a terrible golfer, and more.  While Eric made friends wherever he went, his greatest joy was to be a husband and father to his four children.  He was a great romantic, a hilarious storyteller, and a great listener to his kiddos.  He loved attending their events, reading them stories, and watching funny videos with them.  Even through his cancer journey, he tried to be a light to the people he met.  He made nurses laugh and joked with his family and friends about his new diet plan. His family is so grateful to the many doctors and nurses from Huntsman and Ogden Regional Hospitals who extended his life as long as they could.  Eric will truly be missed by all who knew him. He leaves behind his wife, Shannon, his children, Lucy (13), Gunner(9), Sadie (7), and Millie (4); his parents, Gary and Gayla Lott; siblings, Jeremy (Kellee), Amy Ballamis, Kati Blad (Matt), and Shawn (Hollie); his in-laws, Brent and Mary Kay Whipple, Ken (Shana) Whipple, Jeff (Brindy) Whipple, and Greg (Sara) Whipple. He also leaves behind many adored nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00am Friday, August 19 at the Highlands Ward Building, 5378 West Old Highway Road, Mountain Green, UT 84050.  Friends and family may visit on Thursday, August 18 from 6 to 8pm or Friday, August 19 from 9:30 to 10:30am at the Highlands Ward Building.
