Elgin D Kynaston

Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather passed away in his home on Wednesday, September 29, 2021.

Dean was born September 8, 1931, in Salt Lake City, Utah to Elgin Henry Kynaston and Beth Pace Kynaston. He married Cleone Lois Eatchel on December 26, 1952.

He is survived by his wife; two sons, Kirt Dean Kynaston and Ryan Hal Kynaston (Julie); seven grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; one brother, Richard H. Kynaston; and one sister-in-law, Shar Lynn Kynaston.

Dean-O was always outside. Whether he was working on his farm in Park Valley, raising show horses with his brother Udell, tending his garden to share produce with everyone around him, breeding puppies, or taking care of his chickens. Dean’s father, Elgin, would always say, “Before my boys become street bums, they’ll be out in the backyard digging holes and filling them back in again.” That is exactly what Dean did; he kept himself busy and brightened everyone’s life who knew him along the way.

Dean met the love his life, Cleone, at his sister’s birthday party in September of 1949. Dean and Cleone both had dates to the party that they would have rather ditched, and they immediately took a liking to one another. After that party, a whirlwind romance ensued. They got engaged in November of 1950 and married the day after Christmas in 1952, after Dean had served his LDS mission in The Great Lakes Mission.

If there was one word to describe Dean-O, it would be happy. He always had a smile on his face and was quick with a joke. It seemed that everywhere he went, he made a new friend. Dean was energetic and always looking for something to do. His hardworking nature helps to inspire and set an example for his whole family and everyone who knew him.

There are no words to describe the immeasurable loss felt by everyone who knew Dean. His memory will live on through the lessons of optimism, humor, hard work, service, and love of the outdoors and animals that he instilled in his children, grandchildren, and all those close to him. Dean will forever be loved and will be missed until we meet again.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday October 6, 2021, at 11:00 am at the Kaysville 9th Ward Chapel, 201 South 600 East. A viewing will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 prior to the services. Interment will follow at the Farmington City Cemetery.
