Dorothy Louise Ashman Fordham

January 5, 1931 — February 6, 2022

Our loving mother Dorothy Louise Ashman Fordham passed away February 6, 2022. She was born on January 5, 1931, in Fillmore, Utah to Everett Moyle and Florence Louise (Rackman) Ashman, the eldest of six children. She often shared memories of her youth in Fillmore and her work at the Millard County Telephone company where she was employed as an operator for several years until her marriage.
Dorothy was introduced to her future husband while visiting her aunt Lucille and uncle Carlos in Beaver, Utah. In March of 1952 she and LaMar were married and sealed in the St. George Temple. After they were married, they moved to Salt Lake City, which was followed by Milford, Caliente, Nevada, then back to Salt Lake City finally settling in Bountiful, where together they raised seven children, Chris Mooney (Robert) Lynette Robison, Leslie Lund (Robert), George, Roslyn Jensen (Richard), Rosalie Lee (Mark), and Virginia Compton (Timothy).
LaMar and Dorothy served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the Dallas, Texas temple. Mom cared for her husband, LaMar, during the many years that he struggled with Parkinson’s disease until his passing in 2015. She was a pleasure to be around. Her cheerful disposition through the challenges of life were a strength to her family. She will be greatly missed.
She was preceded in death by her husband, LaMar, her only son, George, and her twin sisters RosaLee Robbins and LeaRose. She is survived by her three siblings, six daughters, twenty-one grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren. We are grateful to family and friends, her physician, Dr. David Horsley and our neighbors who have been so kind. Her love for her Father in Heaven and her Savior Jesus Christ shone brightly in her life.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, February 10, 2022 at Russon Mortuary, 295 North Main, Bountiful, Utah, where a visitation will be held from 9:00 – 9:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment – Bountiful City Cemetery.
