Doris Marian Unander

Santaquin, UT-Doris Marian Unander passed away on July 30, 2022. Born November 10, 1928, in Burley, Idaho, to Ralph and Elva Unander. Graduated from Burley High School. Attended LDS Business College and Brigham Young University where she became a member of Phi Chi Theta, Lambda Delta Sigma, and The Banyan student yearbook staff.
Doris served as an officer and teacher in the auxiliary organizations of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She earned the Golden Gleaner award as a young woman. She fulfilled a mission in the Sugar House Stake. In 1958 she was appointed to the Y.W.M.I.A. General Board, now known as the Young Women’s organization, where she served from 1958 to 1962. Doris represented the Y.W.M.I.A. as a fraternal delegate to the national Campfire Girls’ Golden Jubilee held in New York City in 1960. She served as an ordinance worker in the Salt Lake Temple from 1988 to 1997 B a calling she dearly loved. Doris was also a member of the LDS Hospital Volunteer Auxiliary.
Early employment was with the LDS Department of Education, the Military Training Section at Hill Air Force Base, and the Fred Astaire Dance Studios. Retired from the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation after 36 years of government service. She was the recipient of the U.S. Department of Interior Honor Award for Superior Service.
Preceded in death by parents, and brothers and sisters-in-law Verl and Kathleen, Barbara, Frank and Fern, Robert and Derlie, and Richard.
Survived by Richard’s wife Jayne Cosgrave Unander, Los Angeles, California, and one nephew and five nieces: Keith (Mary) Unander, Roy, Utah; Marilyn (John) Cottingham, Garden Valley, Idaho; Vicki Unander, Salt Lake City, Utah; Mary Jane Stewart (Gaylan), Spanish Fork, Utah; Peggy Sue Unander, Madison, Alabama; Jo-Ann Cone (Richard), Madison, Alabama; many great nieces and great nephews as well as cousin Kathy Squires and the Grant and Woodbury families.
