Donald Robert Hayes passed away on September 24, 2021, at the age of 54 years in Murray, UT.  Don passed away due to complications of the West Nile Virus following a liver transplant on July 4th of this year.

Don was born on December 11, 1966, in San Jose, California to Carroll Owen Hayes and Darlene Marie Mears. Don had two sisters, Lesa Marie Hayes and Margaret Ann Hayes. Don grew up in Yakima, Washington and graduated from Davis Senior High School in 1985.

Don was sealed to Lisa Michelle Greaves on June 15, 1996, in the Salt Lake City, Utah temple. They were married for 25 years and had 3 children.  During this time, they lived in the Layton and Syracuse area.

Don served in the United States Airforce from 1985-2005 with his career as an aerospace ground equipment craftsman. He was stationed in Mountain Home, ID, Okinawa, Japan and Layton, UT. During his service he was able to see the world.  His favorite country he visited was Thailand (he loved their food).  He was proud to be an American and happy to have served his country.

Following his military service, he was a generator technician, airplane mechanic and maintenance manager. He loved his last employment at St. Mark’s Gardens where he worked for the last 10 years. It was his home away from home. He loved serving the elderly and treated them as family.

Don was a jack of all trades. He could fix just about anything. He loved to make people happy and to serve others. Don had the biggest love for gardening and enjoyed sharing his fruits and vegetables with everyone. He was a great cook and was known by many for his delicious homemade chili and salsa. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle and being outdoors. He was an animal lover and always wanted to live on a farm.

Don is survived by his wife Lisa and his 3 children; Sierra (23), Karlee (20) and Jaden (18). Proceeded in death by his mother, Darlene Marie Mears.
