David Thorne

Biography

David Coppock Thorne returned to his Heavenly Father on Monday, September 24, 2012 in North Salt Lake, Utah. He was born in Cleveland, Ohio on January 5, 1936 to George R. and Louise Thorne. He graduated from Elyria High School in 1954. He then joined the Air Force and after his discharge moved to Utah where he met and married Jolene Marriott. They were blessed with six children. They later divorced. David moved from Salt Lake City to Vernal, Utah for work in 1982 where he met and married Connie Southam. In 2008, they moved to North Salt Lake.

David worked as a mechanic, a manager of Tunex and of Cate Bearing. He retired from owning and operating Naples Deli and Pizza. He was a member of the LDS Church and served in many callings including a temple worker in the Vernal Temple.

David was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, a sister, and a grandson. He is survived by his wife Connie; children Jodie Hugentobler (Mel) Moab, UT; Holly Thurgood (Tracy) Elk Ridge, UT; Rebecca Thierolf (Ryan) Murray, UT; Michael Thorne (Tera) Herriman, UT; Jerimie Thorne (Mindy) Riverton, UT; Ann Higley (Daniel) Herriman, UT, and step-children Marcia Thompson (Kirk) NSL, UT; Glade Southam (Michelle) Rexburg, ID, Layne Southam (Teri) Bountiful, UT; Brian Southam (Arlene, Roosevelt, UT; Karl Southam (Shana) Afton, WY; and Mylinda Hawks (Aaron) NSL, UT. He is also survived by 62 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren whom he loved dearly.

A viewing will be held Friday evening, September 28, 2012 from 6-8 p.m. at Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 N. Main. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at the NSL Parkway Stake Center, 55 East 350 North, North Salt Lake, Utah, with a viewing one hour prior to the service.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to our angel, Christiana Bredthauer, and the staff of Superior Hospice for their tender care of him and us through his last days.
