Danna Emelia Larsen Johnson

January 10, 1925 — December 15, 2020

Born January 10, 1925 in Gunnison, Utah / Passed away December 15, 2020 in Bountiful Utah

Mother was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Mother also known as “Mimi” was raised on a ranch in the Gunnison Valley during the Depression and when her father’s employment opportunities presented itself the family moved to Salt Lake City during her high school years.

She graduated from South High School, and it was there she met the love of her life, Lester Johnson.  Smitten by her beauty dad was in pursuit of her to be married for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake Temple.  They married on August 18, 1943.

With WWII in full swing, dad was drafted into the Army Air Corp and mother worked at the State Capitol until she had enough money, then she followed dad to where ever he was stationed, sometimes only greeting him through the fence before he was leaving for another training base.  During the war effort mother wrote to dad asking if she could join the Civil Air Patrol for her contribution to the war efforts and the answer was a resounding “No”.

After the war ended mother and dad began their family with Leslie followed by Claudia, Mel and Steven.

Being involved in the community mother was driven by fairness and was involved in the Canyon Rim area to campaign for the reduction of party line usage which they were successful.  She also was the executive secretary for Johnson Construction Co. for many years.

Mother was an accomplished seamstress and made all of our clothes.  She would lock herself in her sewing room weeks before Christmas sewing doll clothes and such.

Mother was a peacemaker and received everyone with grace and compassion.  She always made each person feel accepted.  Mother had a great appreciation for the beauty and wonders of God’s creations.  She loved flowers and plants, especially roses.

Mother and dad loved to travel and spent many years traveling the world.  Being devoted to dad his passing left mother heartbroken.

Survived by daughters Leslie (Reed) Richman, Claudia Guillian, son Steven (Cyndi) Johnson and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents Peter Daniel and Rose Teresa Larsen, husband Lester Johnson, son Melvin Johnson and baby son Adam.

A special thanks to the First Choice Home Health & Hospice and Marie that attended to mothers needs in her final days.
