Danae Russon Stevens 1969 to 2020

Danae Russon Stevens, 51, passed away suddenly on March 24, 2020.  Danae was born on January 10, 1969 in Bountiful, Utah to her parents Milton W. Russon, Jr. and Rebecca Anne Orgill Russon.  She was the second child of 5 children in her family.

Danae was raised in Bountiful and was often found playing with her friends in the neighborhood and trying to make new friends whenever she could.  She loved to be outside and was often off on bike rides or climbing trees with her friends.  When forced to be inside she practiced Suzuki scales on her violin driving her family nuts!

In her younger years, she loved to travel the western United States with her family in the station wagon and the “tray”.  Hundreds of hours were spent playing the “zip” game and singing songs from the 8-tracks of Pete’s Dragon, the Carpenters, Neil Diamond, and My turn on Earth.  During these road trips, Danae was often frustrating her parents by wandering away from camp.  She would undoubtedly be found at the KOA playground with a new friend she had just made.  Danae was kind to a fault and had a way of making friends wherever she went. She graduated from Bountiful High School in 1987.  From there, she attended Weber State College and graduated with a degree in nursing.  From there, she worked for many years at LDS Hospital in the oncology unit providing comfort and care for those suffering from cancer.  It was there that she honed her skills for helping people transition from this life into the next.  She was known to go toe-to-toe with doctors as she advocated for her patients for the best care possible.  In general, she dedicated her life to taking care of others physically and emotionally to the best of her ability.  She was a caregiver, first and foremost, and was a champion of the underdog.  She truly exemplified the Savior’s charge to minister to others.

Danae married Ronald J. Stevens on November 12, 1998, later solemnized in the Bountiful Temple.  At the time of their marriage, RJ had a son, Taylor J Stevens.  Danae accepted Taylor as her own and helped raise him from that time.  As with everyone in her life, once he came into her life, he was hers.

She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints throughout her life.  She loved to serve in her callings and was faithful as she took on those responsibilities.  She liked to think about the deep questions of the gospel and was known to have thought-provoking discussions about her thoughts and feelings.  Ultimately, she loved the Lord and was going about doing His business.

Danae is survived by her husband RJ, her stepson Taylor, her parents Milt and Becky, her grandmother Betty Lou Orgill,  her mother-in-law Janice Stevens, her sister-in-law Ruthann Allen (Jason), her siblings Shelly Fawcett (Mike), Bryce Russon (Natalie), Sharise Anderson (Tom), Tyler Russon (Anne) and her nieces and nephews Calvin (Kenzie), Anna, Roxy, Coco, Josh, Megan, James, Samantha, Mallory, Emily, Brad, Belle, Kate, and Abby.  Danae loved and was loved by her nieces and nephews.  Although she was never able to have children of her own, she often treated them as her own.  She is preceded in death by her father-in-law Ronald Stevens.

A private family viewing will be held Tuesday March 31, 2020 at Russon Mortuary in Bountiful.  A private graveside service will then be held at the Bountiful Cemetery.  A gathering of family and friends will be held at a later date when the safety and health of all can be assured.
