Cynthia DeYoung

March 24, 1957 — February 28, 2020

Cynthia Stewart DeYoung, 62, returned to her Heavenly Father on February 28, 2020. She lost a long battle from (FTD) Frontotemporal Dementia. She was born on March 24, 1957 at the Holy Cross Hospital, in Salt Lake City, UT to Calvin Boyd Stewart and Elinor Johnson Stewart. Cindy grew up in the Sugarhouse area and she attended and graduated from Highland High school where she was in the Pep Club which she enjoyed and loved. She also attended Brigham Young University. Cindy enjoyed doing outdoor activities with her family. She was a great angler, amazing shooter, and the best water skier and snowmobiler. She loved bowling and participated in a bowling league. She loved any time spent with her kids. Some of her fondest memories are when she vacationed with her kids at Jackson Hole where she enjoyed watching wildlife. Her hobbies were collecting coins, stamps and photographing pictures of everything that was beautiful. She had tremendous love for singing, dancing and music. She enjoyed singing to her favorite artists (Celine Dion, Bruno Mars, Maroon5, American Authors) She enjoyed and loved to serve in the Stake Relief Society. She served in the primary and young women’s. She always served with love and compassion. In Cindy’s own words. Linda took me to Hawaii for a much needed get away- In my Journal, “I learned a great deal on my trip to Hawaii. I learned there was a part of me crying to be “Free”. I felt that freedom in Hawaii. I felt safe finally, and it felt wonderful to me. I saw things that mean so much to me, such as: Lighthouses, the sunrise, the sunset, flowers, shells, the seashores, waterfalls and rainbows, and the ocean made my “soul” come alive. I was so very “Happy”! One of her favorite places in the world to visit was Hawaii, her love for the island brought her peace, joy, and serenity. This was her paradise her, (getaway.) Aloha Cindy, until we meet again The greatest blessing in her life were her three children: Nathan, Jonathan, and Natalie. She enjoyed being with her kids and loved every minute. Her true love and greatest joy was being a grandmother. She loved and adored her grandkids: Samantha, Savannah, Paxton, Macy and Lily. She is survived by: her Son, Nathan (Emily) DeYoung; Son, Jonathan (Jamie) DeYoung; and Daughter, Natalie (Paul) ‘Ahota’e’iloa. Her grandchildren Samantha, Savannah, Paxton, Macy, Lily and soon to be new born baby, Tavete! Her sisters: Jean (Kevin) Jackson and Linda (William) Potter. She is proceeded in death by her Father Calvin Boyd Stewart and Mother Elinor Johnson Stewart. She was diagnosed with (FTD) Frontotemporal Dementia April of 2014, there were early on signs in her younger age. This disease takes away your loved one at an early age.
