Cory Jay Christenson

Cory Jay Christenson, 51, passed away recently in Centerville, Utah. Cory was born May, 11 1970 to Paula (Jolley) Anderson and Randy M. Christenson in American Fork, Utah. He grew up in Orem, Utah and attended Orem High School.

Cory spent his life doing what he loved: listening to music, playing guitar, snowboarding, golfing and fishing. He especially enjoyed fishing with his Dad. Cory was at peace snowboarding in the mountains or playing a round of golf. He was very artistic and creative. He would make elaborate drawings, write lyrics or poetry, and was always strumming his guitar.

Cory married Mary Jo Ericksen on September 16, 1989. In their marriage they had two amazing children, Bodhi and Alexa. Bodhi and Alexa were raised with a sense of adventure. They both have their father’s passion for music, creativity, and desire to see and experience everything possible. He taught them to dream. Cory loved his children fiercely and with his whole heart. Cory was happiest when he was surrounded by his family and close friends.

Cory started his career in Auto Body at an early age. He honed his craft and creativity and became a master in Auto Painting. He owned his own shop and had several other businesses.  One of which, was custom painting golf club heads with elaborate designs or patterns.

Cory lived a full and exciting life. He was a loyal friend to many and always willing to lend a hand. He had a great sense of humor, with an unforgettable laugh. He will forever be loved and missed.

Cory is survived by his children, Bodhi and Alexa; his parents, Randy M. Christenson (Jill) and Paula Anderson; his brothers, Chad Christenson and Nelson Anderson; and other extended family.

 Cory was preceded in death by his grandparents; Rueben Guy and Georgia Jolley, and Marvin and Lois Christenson; an aunt, uncles and cousins.

 A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, September 11 from 1-4 pm at the ICW Cultural Event Center, 1775 S. 4130 W. Suite G Salt Lake City, Utah. Family and friends are welcome to attend.

Cory’s ashes will be placed at his most loved site, in the mountains.
