Corwin Smith Hancock

September 14, 1928 — May 18, 2021

Corwin Smith Hancock, 92, passed away at the Bennion Veteran’s Home in Payson, Utah County, Utah, on May 18th, 2021, due to complications incident to age.

Dad was born to Joseph Brent and Amy Ann Smith Hancock in Pocatello, Bannock County, Idaho, on September 14th, 1928.

Dad married our Mom, Martha Marian Lehto, on January 19th, 1953, in the Salt Lake Temple in Salt Lake City, Utah.  Martha passed away July 16th, 2012.

Dad loved singing as he had a most beautiful tenor voice.  He was asked to sing for many events which included funerals, reunions, in church settings and even sometimes just off the cuff someone would ask him to sing something and he would do so.

Dad held many positions in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints all of which he loved and enjoyed.  He and Mom served a mission in the Washington DC South Mission in 1987.  He served in the Salt Lake and Bountiful Temples as an ordinance worker.   He was always serving someone in need.

Dad had the best laugh ever.  He sounded just like Barney Rubble of the Flintstones (the cartoon version of many years ago).

Our Dad was a Master Electrician.  He worked for the Union Pacific Railroad, the Southern Pacific Railroad and Kennecott Copper Corp.  He was able to fix and build anything; all without using YouTube and Google.  Dad also served in the United States Army during the Korean conflict.

He taught us all the value of hard work and service.

Survivors include his five children, Timothy, Hollis Cabaness (Kipp), Marcine Brown (Joel), Matthew (Julie), and Joel (Cyndi).  He has 26 grandchildren and a lot of great grandchildren.  He is also survived by his sisters, Rosalie Thomas and Priscilla Fisher.  Preceding him in death are his parents, brother, J. B. Hancock, and sisters Gertrude Hancock and Gloria Berens.  Also, his three grandchildren, Aleisha Cabaness Miles, Kela Ann Cabaness and Jashon Kipp Cabaness.

A viewing will be held Tuesday, May 25th, 2021, from 11:30 to 12:30 at the Russon Brothers Mortuary in Bountiful, Utah, followed by a graveside service at 1:00 pm at the Bountiful City Cemetery.

For those unable to attend the graveside service in person, a live broadcast can be seen on the Russon Mortuary & Crematory Facebook page.  The live broadcast will also be posted below at around 12:50 p.m.
