Braxton Theodore Bassett

January 20, 1995 — June 17, 2022

Braxton Theodore Bassett passed away peacefully at home on June 17, 2022, surrounded by loving family members. He was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, on January 20, 1995, to Jeff and Rose Bassett. He graduated from Viewmont High School and Utah Valley University with a degree in Business Administration and a minor in Marketing. He served an LDS Mission in the Mexico City West, Mexico mission.

Braxton married the love of his life, Shalee, on September 23, 2020, in the Payson Utah temple.  Shalee completed Braxton’s life. They were meant to be with each other and together they were unstoppable. The love they had for each other was like none other. Shalee was Braxton’s strongest advocate.

Braxton was the person everyone wanted to be around. His light and energy drew people to him. Braxton truly cared about everyone he met, made friends easily and was loved by so many. He loved to do anything outdoors—snowboarding, boating, and sports. Braxton worked in the Tech industry and was immediately successful every step along the way. Braxton was so dynamic in his employment.  He was a mentor to many and a friend to all. He had a saying, “Willing to Work Harder Than You,” and that work ethic was evident in everything he did.

Braxton was diagnosed with Melanoma cancer on December 8, 2020, and he was determined to do whatever it took to fight it. His determination to beat cancer was undeniable.  During some of the most difficult days, Braxton was still working and taking calls from family and friends to make sure THEY were okay. He would never let anyone know what real pain he was going through because he didn’t want anyone to worry about him. Braxton’s faith never wavered, and his dedication was remarkable. During his battle with cancer, Braxton lived by the motto “Faith Over Fear” and that is exactly what he exemplified.  Braxton was a “Giant of a Man” and will be missed dearly.

He is survived by his wife Shalee Gean, parents Jeff and Rose, brother Austin (Bailey), mother-in-law Zelma Nelson, brother-in-law Hunter Nelson, sisters-in-law Shelby and Kylie Nelson, and grandparents Terry and Sandy Foust and Faith Bassett. He was preceded in death by his grandfather Stanley Bassett.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 25, 2022, at the Centerville South Stake Center, 270 North 300 East Centerville, Utah where a viewing / remembrance of life will be held the evening of Friday, June 24, 2022, from 6:00-8:00 p.m and Saturday morning from 9:00-10:30 a.m. prior to services.  Interment to follow at Bountiful City Cemetery in Bountiful, Utah.

Services will be streamed live on the Russon Brothers Mortuary Facebook page and on this obituary page.  The live stream will begin about 10-15 minutes prior to the service and will be posted below.
